https://www.yahoo.com/news/trans-laird-sues-nhs-refusing-140305875.html

So this person was born male, had surgery to ‘become female’, then back to male and is during the NHS for refusing to then give them more surgery back to female.

In the legal claim, the 64-year-old said the refusal to provide treatment relating to the third gender reassignment amounted to negligence, discrimination and a breach of human rights.

JFC so not using NHS resources to allow someone to transition when the wind blows is against human rights - what a time to be alive

If this is who I think it is, he described realising he wasn’t a woman, wasn’t a decent facsimile of a woman, and so reverted to male.
Of course, he couldn’t be particularly successfully male after years of hormone therapy and bits having been amputated.

So he’s back on the merry go round.

None of which is going to address the underlying issues which are probably based in homophobia.

While I’m sad for the situation he’s in, he’s extremely well educated and indeed mature and experienced, and would struggle to prove his lack of comprehension of his choices.

Sounds like she's had a pretty tough ride so far. Not sure what you want me to say?

Two NHS cosmetic operations on a whim, then demanding a third and now suing the NHS? You could say it's time this person stopped wasting NHS resources.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 18/12/2024 19:43

Good grief - another delusional poster boy. Good to see the gay men speaking out so clearly against the gaslighting and the abuse of NHS resources (Malcom Clark, Jonny Best, Mr Menno)

This person sounds… confused

Do you think if I turned up at the gate of Buckingham palace and told them that I identify as heir to the throne, they'd let me in?!

Traditionally they would execute you but these are modern times

Seymour5 · 18/12/2024 19:47

This person is wealthy. They could have opted for private surgery here. An abuse of the NHS.

Cry me a bloody river. A friend has had CANCER surgery delayed and this person owns a £5 million castle? Pay yourself for your plastic surgery when you can't make up your mind!

Sorry to hear about your friend. Sadly this is a common problem. The NHS is on its knees. We need a government strong enough, in defence of people with genuine health needs, to stop funding any cosmetic surgery except for (non-self-inflicted) disfigurement, including after breast-cancer surgery.

borntobequiet · 18/12/2024 19:49

I hope this gets lots of publicity, because it’s an excellent example of GI madness.

It boggles my mind that that this bloke thinks it's okay to use NHS resources in this way when mental health services are broken, and people - including the elderly - sometimes have to wait overnight in a corridor off A&E for a bed.

Yes. It's absurd and insulting. How bloody dare he!

ArabellaScott · 18/12/2024 20:12

'The Sunday Times reported police have been called out twice to deal with confrontations, with the dispute coming to a head at a recent Ardgay and District Community Council meeting.
The meeting was held to discuss Lady Carbsidale’s plans to purchase a seven-acre plot near the castle.
Differing accounts of the meeting have been shared with some locals saying Ms Kane became “abusive”, while she told the Sunday newspaper she had been “forced” to call the police after being assaulted.
It’s understood Ms Kane was issued with a police warning.'

To paraphrase Mary Harrington, he’s treating it like meat lego.

hallouminatus · 18/12/2024 20:17

Why isn't he suing the hospital where the 'botched' operation was performed privately, instead of the NHS hospital which refused to operate?

I agree. Although I don't think the case is being heard until 2026, and I doubt there will be many people in the country left to peak.

Regarding medical treatment, I think seeing a psychiatrist for narcissistic personality disorder would be the best way forward for Lady Carbisdale. He's clearly got plenty of cash, so he won't have to rely on the NHS, although I'd guess he'll probably sue over that too.

Scannerscammer · 18/12/2024 19:16

So how does this fit with the pro-trans rhetoric that being trans means you were "born in the wrong body" and is nothing to do with having a mental illness?

Because transitioning is a journey and this bloke bought a season ticket to Brighton?

Portakalkedi · 18/12/2024 20:34

There is no way the NHS should be doing this kind of elective surgery when there are people dying while on the waiting lists for necessary lifesaving operations.

Lunacy!

Reading about this man has made me look into how he made his money. He has, let us say, an interesting past. I definitely wouldn't say he sounds dodgy as fuck, at all.

WhatterySquash · 18/12/2024 22:51

This person may be well-educated and wealthy, but seems to missing a large dollop of common sense.

Why can’t these types grasp that you can wear what you want and even have whatever kinds of conversations you want and go shopping or not go shopping, and none of this says anything about your sex? If you want to wear a blouse and a pretty ring why can’t you? Lots of men wear pretty clothes, including some gay men and some flamboyant showbiz or arty types. The degree of confusion and ridiculous sexism is just mindblowing.

To think you have to keep going through awful, experimental genital surgeries with high complication rates that are just going to take you further and further away from having anything natural and functioning left - and that this has any bearing on who you are - how do people end up thinking this?

I actually do feel bad for this individual though because it sounds like there is an internalised homophobia thing going on, and the suffering from the surgeries sounds horrific.

ButterflyHatched · 19/12/2024 01:56

TwistedWonder · 18/12/2024 18:34

After "becoming a woman "he loathed it because " female conversation is dull and shopping is boring."

He detransitioned over 20 years ago, taking his psychiatrist to the GMC for negligence and winning. He had a phalloplasty but loathed being a man again.
"I wanted to wear a blouse or a pretty ring, and wear my hair long." It was time to change legal sex all over again.

But gender ideology is nothing to do with social stereotypes so they tell us

Edited

Good grief. I hope this person finds what they're looking for without wasting any more of everyone's time. It clearly doesn't seem to be transition anyway. I don't understand why anyone would do this to themself if they aren't incredibly sure of their needs and the path ahead - surgery is hardly a fun ride the first time, they don't exactly lay it on lightly with respect to the grim mechanics of what is involved, and I can't imagine that repeat journeys add much to the experience.

Also I find that dismissive talk about 'female conversation' and shopping to be absolutely excruciating stereotype bullshit.

This is so far away from my experiences and the sobriety with which I made my own life choices that they may as well be standing on the surface of Sedna.

Agreed. Not sure what the hell's going on here but I'm really concerned for their general wellbeing.

Happyinarcon · 19/12/2024 03:31

To be honest the NHS bought into this lunacy in the first place, they can’t decide that all this gender stuff is a medical fact and then randomly decide it’s all nuts when they choose. The NHS needs to start acting like a science based medical establishment and not as a flakey best friend

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/12/2024 03:59

It never ceases to amaze me how much people can hate us while wanting to be us.

FatAlec · 19/12/2024 04:07

This person is bonkers. He has been involved in all sorts of shit with his castle in the Highlands and pissing off the locals. Luckily for them he's now selling it.

Gravitasdepleted · 19/12/2024 05:05

Is he modelling himself on Patsy from Ab Fab?!
But seriously I identify as a tax payer and this grifter needs to pay for his own vanity projects.
