Trans laird sues NHS for refusing to carry out third sex change surgery

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trans-laird-sues-nhs-refusing-140305875.html

So this person was born male, had surgery to ‘become female’, then back to male and is during the NHS for refusing to then give them more surgery back to female.

In the legal claim, the 64-year-old said the refusal to provide treatment relating to the third gender reassignment amounted to negligence, discrimination and a breach of human rights.

JFC so not using NHS resources to allow someone to transition when the wind blows is against human rights - what a time to be alive

That headline implies they're not actually a laird, they just identify as one. I might because a trans princess, pronouns ma'am/highness 😂

Tubetrain · 18/12/2024 17:56

Do you think if I turned up at the gate of Buckingham palace and told them that I identify as heir to the throne, they'd let me in?!

GailBlancheViola · 18/12/2024 17:58

FFS

My opinion is that these surgeries should not be carried out on the NHS at all for anyone.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 18/12/2024 17:59

But….they are already ‘female’ aren’t they? They’ve been all over a certain publication ticking on about how the ‘locals’ are not ‘ready’ for a ‘trans laird’ ( I don’t know, I’m only repeating it). Certainly the attached photo presents as female.

is this retrospective, then?
Calling @butterfly hatched or Dad Joke to explain this please, and tell me the correct attitude to this person, cos I’m baffled.

Well yes they’re ‘female’ again but had to have the 3rd transition surgery done privately and they’re suing the NHS for saying no because that’s breach of their human rights apparently!

Who knew changing sex on a whim was a human right?

The thing is that there will be so much scarring and adhesions that I imagine no decent surgeon will want to contemplate any further surgery in that area. And no decent surgeon would do so on mental health grounds, I imagine.

LonginesPrime · 18/12/2024 18:08

How can Kane argue that it was reasonably foreseeable that UCLH's refusal would cause Kane to jet off to Serbia (presumably instead of taking UCLH to court like they are now) and that therefore UCLH is responsible for the harm caused by the botched foreign surgery?

Does this person merely identify as a barrister or did they actually go to law school?

skilpadde · 18/12/2024 18:17

The self-styled 'Lady' who absurdly planned to set up a women-only private club, and who also got a police warning after a confrontation with locals last year?

Ah, yes, a fine upstanding member of the community, indeed.

Sounds like she's had a pretty tough ride so far. Not sure what you want me to say?

Malcolm Clark’s done a thread on X on this person. I can’t link right now, can anyone else?

VaddaABeetch · 18/12/2024 18:24

As we say in Ireland…madser?

I can only imagine the mess this man's body is in, heaping surgery upon surgery. And given that his forearms are intact, I can't fathom what they used for the phalloplasty.

TwistedWonder · 18/12/2024 18:34

After "becoming a woman "he loathed it because " female conversation is dull and shopping is boring."

He detransitioned over 20 years ago, taking his psychiatrist to the GMC for negligence and winning. He had a phalloplasty but loathed being a man again.
"I wanted to wear a blouse or a pretty ring, and wear my hair long." It was time to change legal sex all over again.

But gender ideology is nothing to do with social stereotypes so they tell us

This man is so obviously unwell. Why can't the NHS divert the huge expense of surgery into the therapy he needs so desperately?

Not if I get there first!

EdithStourton · 18/12/2024 18:43

It boggles my mind that that this bloke thinks it's okay to use NHS resources in this way when mental health services are broken, and people - including the elderly - sometimes have to wait overnight in a corridor off A&E for a bed.

Justme56 · 18/12/2024 18:51

There is an article in Tatler about this person. They purchased the castle in 2022 making a cash offer. Lots of talk on Cartier watches, sports cars etc, so not short of a penny.

So for 3 years this person was in agony, but had to go through the NHS to get it resolved. Were there no surgeons that could have done this privately? You would think if they had that much money they would want to end their suffering sooner rather than later.

HobnobsChoice · 18/12/2024 18:59

Ignoring the gender aspect of the surgery, is this not the same as people who get cosmetic surgery in Turkey or wherever and then when they end up with infection or botched surgery they g want the NHS to then fix it. Whilst the NHS will treat infection or other emergencies that arise they won't do cosmetic work to make the botched tummy tuck or hair implant or whatever look "normal" again. That's not what the NHS is for.

I'm guessing that is the reason Jane is self representing, no decent or dodgy one would touch this case with a 50' bargepole

themostspecialelfintheworkshop · 18/12/2024 19:06

Cry me a bloody river. A friend has had CANCER surgery delayed and this person owns a £5 million castle? Pay yourself for your plastic surgery when you can't make up your mind!

ANameChangePresents · 18/12/2024 19:07

Why fixing the body isn't a solution for an unwell mind. The body isn't the problem, so slicing it every which way but loose is the equivalent of wallpapering over a leaking spigot. No pattern or colour of wallpaper will ever be right.

Scannerscammer · 18/12/2024 19:16

So how does this fit with the pro-trans rhetoric that being trans means you were "born in the wrong body" and is nothing to do with having a mental illness?
