In short:
Victoria's Opposition Leader John Pesutto has lost a defamation case against former Liberal partyroom colleague Moira Deeming.
Ms Deeming brought the lawsuit against Mr Pesutto, alleging the Victorian Liberal leader had defamed her as a Nazi sympathiser in the wake of an anti-trans-rights rally.
What's next?
Ms Deeming said she expected to rejoin the parliamentary Liberal Party, but Mr Pesutto said the decision was up to its members.

Thank you! Brilliant news!

I hope Moira can now move on. I don't actually care about Pesutto, if he loses his career and goes bankrupt well as we say I'm Scotland, hell mend him.

Excellent. Congratulations to Moira.
John Pesutto’s behaviour towards her was a perfect example of misogynist men using support for transgenderism to make themselves look progressive.
I’m pretty sure they aren’t aware that the majority of people who transition are women. They’d be much less prone to be supportive if they were. Only happy to give away women’s rights; not their own.

He's such a disappointment.

He was supposed to take the party in a more progressive direction but instead he told a woman to sit down and shut up for 9 MONTHS and then booted her from the party because he was afraid of the political fallout.

He could have used the moment to support both women and free speech but he threw that chance away.

I'm so glad and relieved she won.

Thank you for posting. Let's hope he actually pays up.

Let's hope this is a turning point for Australians. I think many didn't realise how much women's rights have been eroded

Villagetoraiseachild · 12/12/2024 20:48

Yay! Very pleasing.

Unfortunately I don't think a turning point as neither major party are interested in women's rights.
