As a tennis team captain at the local league level I'm glad they have protected the leagues.

Less happy about club championships not being protected, but at least it's a start.

This seems to be the trend so far- the elite level is protected but grassroots of the same sport are not protected.

But this will over time lead to more calls to protect grass roots women's sports too.

Unless everyone gets bored of having a gender identity because it's not fashionable anymore before then. Which is possible.

Thanks Gargoyles. I agree that leaving other competitions open is a significant issue, however, it may be that all we can expect at this stage is a phased approach until the complaints are at cacophony crescendo level that they cannot ignore it.

I think in practice most clubs will also ban transwomen from club level competitions now the LTA has taken this step. Unless there are particularly strident TRAs on the committee but I think that's unlikely.

Hopefully the international tennis bodies will follow suit.
