EU Survey about how important people think the issue of violence against women is

Came across this by chance, and it is hard to read and they use flags to identify countries (help!).

But also has downloads of info by country. For anyone who likes looking at the details.

The questions asked were:

  • Sexualisation and objectification of women - accetable or not?
  • Do women often make up or exaggerate claims of abuse or rape?
  • Domestic violence is a private matter and should be dealt with by the family.

Have just realised there are no responses from the UK.

How could I have forgotten Brexit.

I sometimes find things like this a little hard to judge.

Like - important is a very general sort of word.

Is it something that should be condemned - yes, it must be.

When a political party tells me they will halve DV, will that make me vote for them - probably not unless they have a pretty convincing set of policies to accomplish that, otherwise my interpretation is they are blowing hot air.

I think I was more taken aback that even if a small minority there are some who are still prepared to say whatever the circumstances it is the woman's fault.

Yes, I suppose you will always get some weirdos.

But I am always skeptical with these kinds of polls. In my experience being asked polling questions, often none of the answers they offer seem to say what I think, and sometimes the questions are posed in a way that makes you think they are looking for some specific answer.

I think for a lot of people if they have a discussion you find their views are a lot more complex.
