www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/11/22/transgender-police-allowed-strip-search-women-new-guidance/

I'm writing to my MP. This is disgusting. I really hope the Telegraph have it wrong, because I've been sexually assaulted by men in the past and a GRC would not stop a male putting his hands in my pants re-traumatising me!

This is appalling.

Good idea!

That was alot of words to say that basically men can strip search a woman if they got the paper saying they're female. Who cares about all the SA victims, as long as he's recognised as a lady🤬🤬🤬

BreadInCaptivity · 24/11/2024 02:00

This has made me very, very angry.

StandingSideBySide · 24/11/2024 03:00

Just so everyone knows just in case
BTP
have said women can refuse any officer who is put forward to strip search them and another will be offered.
So just keep refusing until they actually put forward a women
Do not fall into their trap of explaining why you refuse a trans women police officer.

Write to your MP
PS….this is the transport police only I understood

No, it's the Met as well the Black Belt Barrister on YouTube had a piece about it. I'll try to link it.

Edited

I read in the papers the Met put this in place in 2012 and their Trans policy from that time states they were allowed to do strip searches if they had a GRC certificate.
However, at some time since ( recently although I can’t remember when ) they have been reviewing this policy in light of safety issues.

Does this mean then that the review has now been carried out and they have concluded in favour if trans rights and against womens!!!!

lcakethereforeIam · 24/11/2024 12:05

I've had a look and I honestly don't know.

It’s confusing but
The rules from 2012 ( allowing trans women to conduct intimate searches of women ) were temporarily suspended ( in January 2024 ) after the Conservatives flagged safeguarding issues for women and girls. The National Police Chiefs Council ( NPCC ) have since that time been carrying out a review.

By the time of that review almost all police followed the 2012 guidance.

The British Transport Police have have now reverted back to that original guidance ignoring Womens rights

However there is no news regarding other police forces except Wales who atm are not following the 2012 NPCC guidance.

ps I searched various freedom of information requests made prior to yesterdays announcement

“Therefore, an officer may only search as the sex indicated on their birth certificate or listed on their gender recognition certificate, whichever is more recent when enacting a statutory power of search under compulsion."

How could your GRC not be more recent than your birth certificate? 🤔

StandingSideBySide · 24/11/2024 12:24

So basically MNs
If you ever find yourself in this position refuse the search
Dont say why or you’ll be charged with a hate crime.
Keep refusing until they provide a biological women with only biological women in the room.
There can be one doing the search but there must be two other officers in the room as well

Which just highlights how utterly stupid it all is fgs.

And, in the fullness of time, women who claim to have a trans identity will be searched by men? Policewoman will be expected to search men?

While I was trying to find out what the Met was doing I came across stuff from them and Liberty 😡handwringing about the poor nonbinaries.

Yes
Although I’m guessing they’ll easily be able to refuse. Much easier than the person in custody.

AlisonDonut · 24/11/2024 12:36

The sheer fact that they know that it is men with a GRC that are allowed to search women, proves that they know they men. Although of course nobody is allowed to know you have a GRC so basically it will be any men.

SkiingIsHeaven · 24/11/2024 12:39

If they tried that with me I'd kick them in the balls

OuterSpaceCadet · 24/11/2024 13:35

This is entirely arse about tit!

Any male officer of any gender ID that knowingly puts themselves forward to search a woman needs investigating! Why would they do that?

I know trans ideology wants everyone to pretend sex isn't real but not all trans people are abusive FFS and every single transwoman knows what sex they actually are.

misscockerspaniel · 24/11/2024 13:36

This is completely out of order.

BTP appear to fall under the Department for Transport, and the Secretary of State for Transport is the Rt Hon Louise Haigh MP
