Will “transgracial” take off? 🤔

Professor in the US claims to have a “white woman within”. Given all the flack Rachel Dolezal got, it’ll be interesting to see reactions to the professor - and the inevitable mangled justifications why this is wrong but claiming to be the opposite sex is just fine.

Perhaps he's looking for a cameo in BlacKkKlansman 2 ?

Hoardasurass · 03/11/2024 09:22

Funny that when a woman says this sort of shit she's shredded for it but when it's coming from a man he gets a book deal, lecturing circuit and sympathetic press articles.
He's still clearly doesn't have a clue about what it means to be a woman as shown by his comments in the article

PriOn1 · 03/11/2024 09:25

I hope it does take off. I don’t know whether this is a serious claim or one designed to highlight the absolute nonsense of all such claims, but I wish they/them well and hope this receives all the publicity it deserves.

Hes a Professor so he must be wise and be able to over an insight that's invaluable for society and for us simple humans. How have I got through life without embracing my inner self?

"It takes just months to form a human, but it can take decades - if not an entire lifetime - to draw the full humanity out of the person."

"Embrace the diversity living inside of us, in order to embrace the diversity living outside of us."

"We know that identity rights are indeed human rights"

"And the need to embrace our inner diversity is critical".

"Society depends on it!"

ErrolTheDragon · 03/11/2024 09:31

I think this guy will get away with it.

Flippantly, because of not actually being a white woman.

I'm not sure that 'cultural appropriation', for which Dolezal was castigated applies symmetrically. I suspect any pushback in this case may be much more likely to come from black people than white.

It's meaningless of course - this person has such a strange stereotyped idea of what being 'a white woman' is. Seems like the little boy wanted to be the blonde, golden tanned 'queen bee', not an average little white girl.

Became white girls are so powerful that they never get assaulted?

I can't access the link (archive?) but, from the quotes and the screenshot , he sounds like he was a traumatised boy who has not processed or understood his trauma.

He is still not a woman.

JellySaurus · 03/11/2024 09:43

Is it possible to fetishise trauma? A dysfunctional and unhelpful coping strategy?

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 03/11/2024 09:43

People really do make crazy assumptions about what it means to be 'someone else'.

It doesn't matter who you are - life will be hard.

"We know that identity rights are indeed human rights"

Hmm, do we?

Whetherornotyoutry · 03/11/2024 14:25

Am I the only one who thought this thread was going to be about a Will and Grace relaunch with Grace transitioning? 😝

Exactly. If it's a right to be defined by your own inner feelings rather than objective reality, it makes a mockery of all existing rights.

hall of fame game missed the point GIF

"It takes just months to form a human, but it can take decades - if not an entire lifetime - to draw the full humanity out of the person."

Epigenetically speaking, it takes generations to form a human.

💯!

Heylo · 03/11/2024 21:33

This is a gift - I hope many more follow and demand rights.

I can hear middle England peaking as I type.

Pinkelephant66 · 03/11/2024 21:48

Oh Lawd, what have I just read.

one of the most interesting bits was that HE thinks that pretty white girls aren’t subjected to violence because they can stand up for themselves?!

deranged

duc748 · 03/11/2024 22:27

It's like he's striving: how can I be the most racist, sexist, and misogynist all at the same time. You have to admit, it's a pretty fair attempt!
