Article in the Telegraph "FA not making football ‘fair or safe’ for women by inaction over transgender policy..
Lord Triesman, former FA chairman, complains to current leaders about players being threatened for raising concerns about trans opponents"

'The FA said that it was happy to discuss its policy with Lord Triesman. It has consistently defended its position, saying in a statement earlier this year: “Our current transgender policy has been in place for 10 years, and it has helped to enable a very small population of transgender women to enjoy playing football safely in the grass-roots game. This is a complex and constantly evolving area, and our review remains ongoing as we monitor and support the practical application of our policy.” '

So basically, the FA cares FA for actual women's safety.

small population of transgender women to enjoy playing football safely …

No mention from the FA regarding the safety of authentic women being able to play safely then? 😣

They're male, they can play perfectly safely against other members of their sex. Granted they might not "enjoy" it quite so much.

There's rarely a mention of transmen is there by these Sport bods?
Funny that.

ScarlettSunset · 24/10/2024 18:19

In What way is it complex and constantly evolving? In the whole history of humans, those born male remain male for their entire lives. What else is there that needs to be considered?

Funny that.

Presumably few of them would choose to play in men's teams. and maybe many wouldn't want to play in women's either. There's that Annoying Quinn, but she's NB.

The FA can just FO.
Long overdue for these organisations in thrall to the trans movement to step aside and stop trashing women's sport in favour of men.
Worth noting that Oliver Brown - the Telegraph's Chief Sports reporter is doing sterling work exposing these idiots in charge - and pleasingly has "educated" most of his readers who fully understand the need for women only sport.

Yes, such as the player who had her knee shattered following the ball being kicked at her by a trans opponent.

FoffFA · 24/10/2024 19:45

In my local women's league there was a transman. She refused to say if she was on T, the team backed her and quit the league. Last season the league was won by a team that had transwomen on it.

Truthlikeness · 24/10/2024 21:49

I've had to play football against transwomen. It ruined it completely for me and I stepped away from the sport after 30 years involvement. Allowing men to play is enormously corrosive for women's football.

Runor · 24/10/2024 22:10

How surprising that the FA states that the safety and enjoyment of the very small (but growing) number of transwomen is so important; while the safety and enjoyment of the vast majority of players in the women’s game is obviously of no consequence whatsoever - not even worth a mention

MarieDeGournay · 24/10/2024 22:11

The FA needs to take a leaf out of British Fencing's book:
The science illustrating the physiological, biological and subsequent sporting performance advantages that adults of the male sex have over adults of the female sex (as an example due to the effects of testosterone during male puberty) is unequivocal.
In addition, the scientific community broadly agrees that the majority of the physiological/biological advantages brought about by male puberty are retained (either wholly or partially) by transwomen
post transition.

The FA never really wanted women's football to take off in the first place. Men's football is extremely lucrative. The pay gap between men's and women's professional football is appalling so most of the women on the England team have full time jobs to support themselves. It is within their power to do something about this.

The social issues preventing girls from taking up football in the first place at school, from being pushed out of games in the school playground to having footballs taken off them and given to boys (both things that happened regularly when I was at school) are, according to my DC1, still happening now. The toxic culture of "football is for boys" from a young age is still detrimental to girls forming any self-belief that they can play football.

And the FA could change all of that if they wanted to. They're in a position of power. Just like men's clubs could change all of that. They've all got the power and money to equalise football and they choose not to because women should know their place.

And then some MEN who had ALL THESE FUCKING ADVANTAGES ALL THEIR FUCKING CHILDHOODS get to waltz in and take away the only space where women actually CAN play football??? Women can have women's football as long as men can have women's football. Right.

God it makes me so angry.

larklane17 · 24/10/2024 23:05

The girls in my family all play football. Under 11s.
The boys had the best pitch at the club ground. The girls got the lumpy pitch out of town. Because the boys were there first apparently.

The local team committees were run by seventy year old retired "business" men under the illusion that they were Alex Ferguson and handmaiden wifey. They pissed me off so much.

The hoops we had to go through to be allowed a girl to play down a year, for one year only, as she was small and slight for her age and had a medical condition and really wanted to play footie.

Evidence from consultant. teacher, child's physio to confirm that there would not be an unfair advantage over other teams. Forms filled in justifying the request. Fighting for the right for a child to play footie with other girls similar in size and weight. Some of this I can understand, but the attitudes were unhelpful and unkind towards the child.

We had an AGM coup. Understanding rule books and how meetings work is a transferable skill ha ha.

Yet it's ok to have open house in the adult game. No problem for the men who want to kick the shit out of the women there. No questions asked. Fill yer boots.
