Olsen-Kennedy’s name was brought up yesterday re a detransitioner.

Interesting contrast on the suicide risk mentioned there to what she says about the mental health of the study participants (although she changed her tune about that aspect between the beginning of the study and the present).

I presume the research funding body could force publication, but no idea how likely it is that they would do that.

Either Dr Olsen Kennedy doesn't understand evidence based healthcare, or doesn't care. I won't speculate which.

Either way, it's not a great look.

History is littered with therapies that doctors absolutely positively knew worked wonders. Until they were studied in ways that tried to reduce bias as much as possible and found that... they didn't.

But I think also, which is maybe why some see actual transitioning as nothing to worry about, the increased acceptance of body modification.

Or even (opposite to transing) the number of women who seek out, often unsafe, procedures to "enhance" their femaleness.

ie social media, and popular press and tv, now make it seem that altering out bodies is just a case of having the money to do it. And it is aspirational.

I think this is absolutely correct.

There has been a real sea change in how people think about body modification, be it tattoos and piercings, fillers and Botox, or surgical interventions.

Many people now seem to see these as great ways to be your best self and questioning that is treated as if you are attacking a person's race or pointing out their physical flaws.

This is massive news. A gender clinician who has performed mastectomies on children as young as 12 has deliberately hidden data showing puberty blockers don’t help. Olson Kennedy claims that he doesn’t want it “weaponised” but he is weaponising it by hiding it. The scandal continues.

I read on the NYT article that O-K has been acting as an expert witness in court cases in the US (which is likely to have well paid). Clear conflict of interest / partiality there in circumstances where blocking the results of a scientific study.

Not sure how long it will stay up for but Johanna Olsen-Kennedy's wiki page currently has a section called "controversy". The time stamp is from one hour ago.

The study and the coverup is probably going to end up in evidence in the many US detrans court cases along with a lot of other stuff happening right now. If this isn't the US tipping point now it is coming. Discussion here:
