Why just the top two tiers? 'It's impossible to balance all the considerations', apparently.
It's not impossible though, is it? Women (and trans men if they wish, if they're not on testosterone) play in female cricket; men (and trans women, and anyone else with a handy dose of male puberty) play in male cricket, and everyone can concentrate on rooting out homophobia and transphobia from sport.

Transgender women will be unable to feature in the top two tiers of the new women’s domestic structure or the women’s Hundred, the ECB has announced

The volunteers have made a great move. They have conducted their own survey which “was overseen by John Armstrong, a mathematician at King’s College London, and Alice Sullivan, Professor of Sociology” and which shows 79% of the volunteers (ie the people who run the show at grass roots level) don’t accept that men should be in women’s sports and in their view fairness and safety is just as important at the grass roots level.

Here.

Do you think they have got ever so slightly muddled about what transman and transwoman actually means?

” So what you are trying to tell me Fotheringay, is that when you say trans woman you don’t actually mean a woman who is transgender ,you mean a man who says he is a woman? And when you say trans man you don’t mean a man who is transgender you mean a woman who says she is a man? That’s awfully confusing Fotheringay, couldn’t they have made it less confusing , anyone would think someone was deliberately making the language ambiguous , though for what end I can’t possibly imagine. Anyway, I think we seem to have covered all the possibilities, and if we have got it a bit wrong I’m sure the lovely ladies who make all those wonderful teas will soon put us right.”
