Bit of a derail here - I googled 'CAF gender test' because I like to go back to primary sources before I make my mind up about things.
I came across this take on the situation from what you would think is a fearless defender of women's rights: Human Rights Watch. Women's rights ARE human rights, aren't they?
Football authorities blindsided Barbra Banda, a top player on the Zambian women’s team, when they announced she was ineligible for competition in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations last week after a “gender verification procedure” that determined her testosterone levels were “too high” to compete as a woman.
OK so far - a chromosome test would have been more conclusive, but it has been shown that elevated testosterone in women is still miles below what is normal for a man, so a 'woman with very high testosterone levels' is probably a 'man with normal testosterone levels.'
But Human Right's Watch's response to this effort to enforce fairness and safety in women's sport?
Such sex testing procedures are flagrant human rights violations because they are stigmatizing, stereotyping, and discriminatory. FIFA, the highest global authority in football, has a policy that encourages such tests, contrary to the organization’s human rights responsibilities.

So to any sportswomen who don't want to compete against men, the message from Human Rights Watch is: how dare you! you are encouraging flagrant human rights violations!
