Was really enjoying this until the trans character with the awful abusive Father (because he doesn't accept his daughter as a boy) showed up.

So many films and shows are ruined by this trans squawking.

Dr P who posts on Twitter occasionally gives things she watches a Terf rating. Perhaps we should start one here. So far Ludwig hasn't had any trans propaganda in it (I'm up to episode 3). Colin From Accounts has a colourful cast of characters some of whom might identify as trans/queer but not as a plot device or in a particularly affirmative way. There is a key lesbian character who is sympathetic and has relationships with women. Can you give A man named Otto a rating/review anywhere? E.g. Rotten Tomatoes

Was a great film (although I dispute the comedy label) but the trans character was shoehorned in.

It's so disingenuous.

I read a quite lot of bios by trans people themselves and whilst abusive, non supportive parents are a common feature, the parental attitude predates and seems to drive the transition.

Rather than it being a later response to transition.

The abusive parents tend to be unaccepting of their child not conforming to gender stereotypes or the child being gay, hence the child feeling they need to transition.

A small but significant detail!

If there was no homophobia, sexism or misogyny in society, vanishingly few people would need to transition.

Whaaaaaat? Relationships with... with ...women?? Whatever will they think of next?😨
Just goes to show how weird it has all got, doesn't it, where a lesbian having relationships with women is worthy of note🙄

I stopped watching Dr Who when they introduced the trans character - extreme woke-washing.

Exactly, there was no purpose to her at all, so forced.

It's based on a Swedish book/film, where IIRC the original character was a gay young man.

(Edited to say I haven't seen the Tom Hanks version).

Edited

The thinly veiled homophobia strikes again.

Really irritating. I stopped watching Douglas is Cancelled because I couldn’t bear the identikit woke student daughter. Pain in the arse. Bring back Saffy!
