Obvs the big focus from SNL is the election (ignoring the Oasis sketch 💁‍♀️) but I wondered what others thought about this. Andy Samberg/LI have classically been pretty GC in their comedy (there’s another sketch he wrote about how the internet might be exploited by older men to pretend to be kids)

I watched it and couldn't help but see that there's a current issue that the sketch could be easily related to.

But, then again, I think a lot of liberal viewers will watch the sketch and laugh at how crazy and unscientific those people of yesterday were with their daft idea of castrating boys to keep their singing voice sounding pre-pubertal.

And these same liberal viewers may think (smugly) to themselves: we are modern people and we have good & kind reasons for castrating boys to stop their puberty (and make them potentially more able to pass as women) and to stop them being gay men when they grown up.

.../sarcasm

It's all a bit mote and beam isn't it 🤔

I immediately thought, I wonder how that one got past the censors! Quite a number of posters in the YouTube comments making the connection. Reminiscent of how writers in Soviet Russia made covert satirical points about politicians by setting their stories in the past.
