US - 22 States demanding American Academy of Pediatrics to Disclose Gender Dysphoria Guidance and Methodology

Another big development in the States.

Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador and 20 other states have put the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) on notice for possible violations of state consumer protection statutes over its evidence free standards on gender dysphoria care for minors. As confirmed by the Cass Report as well as recent disclosures by WPATH, AAP’s guidance is based more on political pressure and agendas rather than medical efficacy and sound medical judgement. In a letter to the AAP leadership, the attorneys general request information detailing the AAP’s evidence for its ongoing recommendations for puberty blockers for gender dysphoria-diagnosed youth despite widespread retractions of the practice... The letter pulls no punches:
"When it comes to treating children diagnosed with gender dysphoria, the AAP has abandoned its commitment to sound medical judgment."

Sounds like the AAP might be serious at risk of being targeted for breaking laws on consumer fraud. Note two more states are backing the letter since this article was published when it was just 20. Either the AAP have to provide evidence blockers work [which doesn't exist] or admit wrong doing which means huge law suits.

With the multiple detrans court cases progressing this initiative will provide more evidence to ensure they win. Meanwhile various medical bodies in States are abandoning ship it seems the US gender medical industry is coming unstuck.

Plastic Surgeons recently indicated changing views:

So the question is how long will it take. I think it will be at least another 2 to 3 years before it becomes an avalanche. As soon as few people gets a big pay out then it will escalate. At some point the medical insurers will jump ship.

Note there is nothing the TAs can do to avoid this, they can delay it though. They would have to take over every Repub state and somehow provide non existent evidence.

What would be great in the US would be seeing some movement in this direction in blue States, but is that anywhere near happening?

Agreed, having this happen in Idaho which is one of the states with a total abortion ban is going to entrench politicised division on this further, and no doubt it is meant to.

Not that I've seen, but actually this is an interesting court case in that it means there will be some discussion somewhere about actual evidence, which might peak a few more people.

We don't have cable TV - we get everything through streaming - so our up-to-date news is via the PBS News Hour, as I donate to PBS and that gives us our Passport app, which enables us to view PBS live. The News Hour is totally sold on gender bollocks, unfortunately, so when the subject arises that's how it's dealt with. There was a piece on the other day about "gender affirming care" and how important it is for those poor unhappy children. Illustrated with an interview with a mother and a child who has "known" she wasn't a girl since she was six, and is now being flown to New Mexico from Texas because Texas is limiting her access to testosterone. The New Mexico doctor was very passionate about her patients' needs for hormones (that will wreck their bodies eventually). Nothing was said in the piece about any risk attached to puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.

This is such good news. Interesting that it's consumer protection law rather than actually treating patents properly that they are being caught out on but frankly I'm happy with any route that serves. The US is such a litigious society and many detransititioners cannot sue because of various statutes of limitations so maybe this will hit them where it hurts.

Edited

I loathe parents like this with the depth of my being. How can she be so deaf to the evidence of harm.

That isn't going to happen for ideological reasons in near term. However once the scandal really hits the medical industry will start pulling out because of costs. So it will inevitably roll back everywhere to some degree. Especially if Supreme Court says women are real.

Who knows how it will look eventually, but I wouldn't be surprised if it pans out like other deep divisions in US history. I think the gender religion will remain big in blue states in some form, while anti abortion will be in in red states. Think division between wet and dry states etc.

Maybe some states will manage to actually be neither too crazy one way or or the other eventually. I mean politically being pro abortion in early stages while saying women exist is the in the long term the real sweet spot as most Americans think that. However it is going to take some real political guts to say that.
