If I understand correctly, his former employers will be standing trial for violating his freespeech rights. They demoted, slighted and eventually sacked him for expressing concerns about medicalising dysphoric kids. The language he used seems very prescient in the light of the Cass review.

This seems to have taken ages to get this far though. Professor Josephson has been concerned since 2014.

I do think we are beginning to see the tide turning in the US, what with the head of the plastic surgeons organisation speaking up recently. Ultimately it will be money that speaks - it insurers, universities, hospitals end up having to make big pay outs in these sorts of cases, and risk making losses, they will start to move away from the affirming model. We need more of these cases, plenty of wins and some staggeringly high financial awards, though. I fear this could take years in the US.

Not to detract from this Professor’s case, but I have seen rumblings around this too.

🚨Big News 🚨Coalition of 22 Attorneys General, led by RaulLabrador4ID threaten fraud enforcement against American Academy of Pediatrics for lying about puberty blockers being reversible. "When it comes to treating children diagnosed with gender dysphoria, the AAP has abandoned its commitment to sound medical judgment." AAP really thought it could get away with misleading and bullying thousands of parents into destroying kids' normal sexual functioning based on a demonstrably harmful woke ideology. They are about to find out how wrong they were.”

I haven’t looked into it yet, but it does seem that the Cass report is creating a wave of pushbacks.

This article give a little more information regarding the Professor

The court, as I understand, isn't ruling on the right or wrongness of transitioning kids, to them it's a freespeech issue.

The development posted by @Helleofabore is direct opposition and good to see.

That case seems to run along similar lines to cases that have been heard in the UK - people are being punished by their employers (often at the behest of other employees) for expressing lawful beliefs.

'Furthermore, the free exchange of views is vital to science and academia, Barham said.

“Academic and scientific progress depends on hearing from a variety of viewpoints,” the attorney told The Fix. “And that exchange of ideas is perhaps most critical when assessing treatment plans for vulnerable patients, like Dr. Josephson was doing.”

Shutting down debate denies patients “critical information they need to make fully informed treatment decisions,” Barham said.

“In the process, they also do a disservice to students, faculty, and society at large, as they stop being the marketplace of ideas and instead become assembly lines for one type of thought.”'

Reading the above quote made me think of Labour's scrapping of the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023.

That was exactly what I was thinking as I read through your post, from his lips to Labour's ears..
