Votes for Schools / PSHE

My daughter has just moved up to year 7 and I've learned that the provider for the PSHE materials is an organisation called Votes for Schools. The school previously had connections with Allsorts so I'm quite keen to find out whether they've moved away from a pro-gender ideology stance or if it will be more of the same! As ever, can't find any sample materials online.. does anyone have any experience they can share?

I've never heard of them

We use votes for schools. It will take a piece of current affairs, provide two sides of a debate and then ask for a vote. So it might be about should parents have the right to share photos of their children, do we provide enough foreign aid, do we do enough to protect our oceans. I haven’t noticed any enormous bias, but I do tend to rush through the material, tbh.

How did we get to a place where outside groups teach our kids in schools and we don't know who they are and can't find out anything about them?!

The tories de centralised education and said "this is the curriculum but you need to all design your own content."

Teachers had no time or training to do so and so all these companies popped up.

Tired experienced teachers left to run/ set them up.

Shiny Newly qualified teachers realised it was an easier life to run such a company, especially for pshce as they could access diversity grants and become charities.

Everything is online. Easy peasy yo market and run.

It seems bizarre that this situation ever arose. Are there other areas of the curriculum which are farmed out?

WarriorN · 14/09/2024 09:43

Yes but not as much as pshce as far as I can tell

Thanks for these replies. I've raised concerns previously with my daughter's primary school re: the No Outsiders program, so PSHE provision is always on my radar! Will see if I can get any sample materials from the website by pretending to be a teacher!
