Deborah Francis white and Mridul Wadhwa - joking about Wadhwa getting a job with rape victims in order to get on the Guilty Feminist podcast

Basically what I said in the title. Francis white runs a podcast called The Guilty Feminist. Surprise, surprise - liberal feminist who fits in nicely with society’s idea of a ‘good feminist’ (challenges nothing, sits around perpetuating stereotypes of women).

the episode that she had Mridul Wadhwa (trans identified male) on talking about their role as head of a rape crisis centre in Edinburgh for women (yes you read that correctly - a TIM running a rape crisis centre) is often criticised for Wadhwas comments where they talk about victims needing to ‘reframe their trauma’ if are bigoted (he’s basing the label bigotry here on women who have suffered sexual assault not wanting to be counselled by TIMs). This is shocking obviously. Now the gender popularity points are running out and big names that previously supported trans community are running for the hills (Jolyon Maugham, the govt etc) I hope someone holds Francis white accountable for accommodating this horrible interview on her podcast. But it seems this overshadowed something worse..

when Wadhwa was first introduced on podcast they makes a joke that they only wanted the job so they get on to the podcast. (There’s a lame joke they make on this podcast about the lengths someone would go to to get on the podcast). Francis white giggles . What is wrong with celebrities?

I gave up on her years ago

Deborah Francis white literally says ‘that’s got to be the best I’m a guilty feminist but…’ and says she got a job to work with women in shelters just to get on this podcast.

Yeah, it's from a few years ago, this one. A classic of the fawning posh libfem genre.

Aged nicely, didn't it (not)?

Imagine anyone having the nerve to call themselves a feminist and simpering like a fool over this bloke. I seem to remember her being very cross with all us terf meanies for criticising. Pity we were right about him, wasn't it?

MsNeis · 12/09/2024 08:46

So... being a cool "guilty feminist" means being a mysoginist? Great! 😃

Not.

hihelenhi · 12/09/2024 09:29

I think the clue's probably in the "guilty". It's all a bit "being a feminist isn't very nice, is it?" coupled with "yes, well, I know I'm not REALLY a feminist, but..."

I think when you end up unquestioningly championing a manipulative, abusive man and his need for validation over the material needs of actual rape victims and blaming the other women who are telling you there's a problem here, you've pretty much proved that feminism is not your thing.

D F-W is possibly one of the biggest let-downs of self-proclaimed feminists. I loved listening to that podcast until I realised being a woman is just a costume or a feeling to her, so whatever she has to say has no substance whatsoever. Apparently she has trans friends so she has this stance. I don't care. She's sold women out just to be in the 'cool club'.

This. I don’t think she has any idea of what she does when she brings males onto a podcast about feminism and lets them dictate what women can speak about. These women bleat about right wing women or women who support Trump but they need to examine their own behaviour more closely as they just pander to men completely.

InvisibleBuffy · 12/09/2024 13:40

I listened to a couple but gave up when I realised that the 'guilty' part meant it wasn't really about being a feminist at all.
It was just trying to justify sexism of both the internal and external variety.

WorriedMutha · 12/09/2024 13:46

I'm really not going to click on the video. Why the F are we helping monetise her grift.

Iamnotalemming · 12/09/2024 14:37

I listened to the podcast when it first came out for a while but did tire of her approach and stop listening. I think what did it for me was one about politics and her basically saying something like 'tory voters are welcome ... to change their minds'. I wasn't even a Tory voter but objected to the idea that differences of opinion could not be tolerated. As someone said above, a real disappointment as a self declared feminist. And this episode with MW has really not aged well.

Yes, exactly. Cool girl wank.

An actual feminist would as soon waste time with this pervert as with Trump. (I always wonder what sort of sexual assaults are lurking in the history of any man who manages to get into women's shelters or rape crisis centres.)
