Speaking at a hustings event hosted by Friends of the Earth during the campaign, she was asked to respond to reports on rising LGBT+ hate crime, as well as her opinion on single-sex spaces and where the Green party stood on that issue.

She told the meeting: "I’ve yet to meet anyone that actually says somebody should not have the right to be addressed as they please, and to dress as they please.

"I really think there is something mischievous in the air - to make those out to be an issue."

She went on to say: "The confusion arises when people start conflating sex with gender."

"Biology is a real thing - it is not a belief" she said, calling for the government to adopt the Cass Review recommendations, external on gender care in full.

Green Party suspend spokeswoman over trans comments

It comes after Pallavi Devulapalli calls reports of rising LGBT+ hate crimes "mischievous".

The Greens are at it again. As is the BBC with their fact-denying "belief that people cannot change sex" nonsense:

Green Party co-leader Adrian Ramsay has not specifically commented on Ms Devulapalli said free speech was "a fundamental cornerstone of democracy in the UK and of all political parties".

He has also denied people with gender critical beliefs, which include those who believe that people cannot change sex, were banned from expressing their views at the Green Party conference.

People with gender critical views aren't banned.

Free speech is fundamental.

So she's been suspended because....?

Glad to see the Greens' apparent purge of anyone not toeing the party line on this issue getting some wider media attention.

From what I've seen on Twitter and from friends in the party, they suspended both health spokeswoman Pallavi Devulapalli as mentioned, and Shahrar Ali (who has already taken them to court and won a partial victory) ahead of their conference which is on this weekend. They both supported the Cass review and a motion has been brought to the conference.

This really annoys me about the Green Party, who otherwise might be a home for proper socialists. How can they believe in nationalization of e.g. railways etc and also TWAW? Mind the gap, perhaps not?

She went on to say: "The confusion arises when people start conflating sex with gender."

So much for "Sex and gender are different, terf!"

The motion in support of the Cass Review wasn't put to conference, nor was the batshit crazy 'trans healthcare' one, as they ran out of time. I bet they heaved a sigh of relief.

It really is past the time I left the party.

The Green Party is lost. It no longer spends any energy on what it was set up for, ecological concerns. It has gone the same way as Amnesty International (set up to aid political prisoners) and Stonewall (set up for LGB rights).

I just don't listen to them any more. Do those in power listen to them any more?

I've just cancelled my direct debit. I've tried to stay so I can vote and somehow make a difference. I know there are still some fantastic Greens fighting an uphill battle and I am sorry to leave because of them but I think this conference was the last straw for me. I can't keep paying dues just to watch a bunch of authoritarian bullies throw their weight around. It's also clear that the climate is now bottom of the priority list for the Green leaders which is ridiculous.

I hope the other cases are heard, I think there are several in the pipeline. The health spokesperson might think about bringing one too, now, I imagine.
