I know there was a thread but sorry can't find it.

The survey will be open from 09:00 on 11 July 2024 to 17:00 on 3 October 2024.Considering the likely attitudes of the Women and Equalities Committee I think this is important. It might give Kishwer Falkner some armour when she's interrogated by them.

This is important. I've just seen this:

https://www.fflag.org.uk/statement-on-ehrc-strategic-plan/
The draft Strategic Plan includes this proposed focus area under their 3rd theme: Justice and the Balance of Rights and they describe it as “Legal clarity around issues where there may be tension between the rights of two or more groups, for example, in relation to sex and gender or matters of religion or belief”. It is the proposed focus on sex and gender that gives us cause for concern and we encourage all people who share a similar concern to complete the consultation by 3rd October and let the EHRC know very clearly that we do not want them wasting their valuable time and resources on what we believe is a manufactured issue that seeks to dehumanise and exclude trans people without any actual evidence of harm caused.

Thank you for the heads-up on this.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/09/2024 21:50

Bump

IwantToRetire · 20/09/2024 21:59

Thanks for this reminder.

I have download the questions as a word document to help plan what to say.

But feel it is quite restricted in terms of being able to put forward ideas / concerns because they have set the answers to the questions.

ArabellaScott · 20/09/2024 22:55

.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 21/09/2024 08:50

Done.

The answers are restrictive but it's important to tell them that sorting out sex vs. gender identity is a high priority. And there are two decent-sized text boxes at the end.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 21/09/2024 09:30

Something I didn't think to say (I always forget something!): one reason that EHRC gave for not intervening when Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (probably illegally) appointed Mridul Wadwha is that ERCC is a small charity. But nowadays many vital services are provided by small independent charities funded by govt and local councils and connected by loose networks. In future EHRC needs to look and act beyond big organisations.

Thanks:

  1. two decent-sized text boxes at the end.
  2. EHRC needs to look and act beyond big organisations.

Good idea to just go through the tick box bit, but focus on making clear points like that.

Bumping this.

kiterunning · 21/09/2024 22:17

A good Sunday morning activity!
