Article in the Telegraph:
www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/08/31/transgender-manager-signs-biological-male-keeper-women-team/

And protests from sex realists on Twitter. These men are making their dislike of women really clear now, aren't they?

OP posts:

Just wait until he has to save goals against another man pretending to be a woman... then the complaining will begin about how unfair it is, and then there's going to be interesting "but ...but ... But..." Conversation

Won't be surprised if all male teams are entered for women's events soon.

Squads usually have three GKs goalkeepers, and only BH is listed so they are probably just trying to recruit back-up keepers.

Clark's picture is on the first page of the women's squad. Never see that usually - it's usually a picture of team members. Trolling or arrogance.

All-male coaching team, depressing but standard for women's football, especially at non-elite level. But the photos one after the other really show they're all blokes.

Apparently in age groups within the indoor rowing competiton, there are now male athletes coming through and breaking the records in the female indoor rowing competition that were set by male competitors.

So, firstly a male competitor comes through and sets records that are high unlikely to ever be broken by female competitors. Then an even better male competitor comes through and breaks that new record.

In the meantime, the first male competitor in that age group of the female indoor rowing competition ages into the next age category and repeats the process.

Where one male athlete goes, another will eventually follow unless that sport excludes them. So it goes without saying that it is likely that Sutton will have more male footballers joining the female team.

The cartoon under the Graun article caused me to LOL.

I'm not sure they thought about having a cartoon about begging for money supporting the Graun to stick it to the man would come across when directly following an article about a postponed game of womens football (because of safety fears due to one team having a transwoman - so a male - goalkeeper). The whole thing is a piss take I think, I mean 'fearless jounalism' is stretching it a bit too!😆

Saw that last night. As it is my sport it is even more infuriating. World Rowing are a different governing body to British Rowing. The latter, after much stalling finally listened to their members and had a vote on the issue of transwomen competing with biological women. Their previous policy was in line with World Rowings suppressed testosterone stance which has been proven to be absolute bollocks insofar as mitigating against male advantage. The British Rowing vote results were overwhelmingly in favour of banning transwomen from women's competition and the policy was duely amended against Wirld Rowings wishes. The usual twats on Twitter/X were frothing but the right result prevailed although many people were still pissed off that it took them so long to listen and act in the face of overwhelming evidence against their original position. Rowing is one of those sports where raw power and stamina will always trump a technically more proficient athlete. It was always going to expose the lunacy of letting men compete against women.

Puffy

Your comment has disappeared but in answer to your question - no, Hamilton won't be training the new keepers, one of the coaches will. But BH is the first-choice GK so the other two will only get to play if BH is injured. Or if BH hits a bad run of form. But given BH's male physical advantages, BH wouldn't have to be on top form to be effective.

Do you have any idea why your post was deleted, Puffyisgood?

Lovelyview · 11/09/2024 09:43

I know all aspects of gender Ideology are upsetting but I find men in women's sport especially infuriating. It is so obviously shouldn't be happening. It just means tightening up a few regulations and saying no to a small number of men. Yet some governing bodies consistently refuse to tackle it.

I caught the post before it vanished and think it was for using a verb that often means preparing a successor but can have another implication too.

puffyisgood · 11/09/2024 09:49

my choice of wording was in poor taste, I apologise, though am genuinely interested to know whether BH is still the #1 ladies' keeper at this club.

Yes. BH is currently the only one. BH is bound to be the best keeper at a club at that level of football.

oldwhyno · 11/09/2024 10:01

sadly not just predictable, but inevitable. And it's inevitable that more will try and join. And it will keep going until somebody tells them no.

I see the story and the thread has moved on a bit since the OP, but I've been meaning to pop on here to say that beautiful Blair has been doing a fabulous job of peaking the parents at DD(14)'s football team. We live in the same geographical area though DD does not play for Sutton. After the story broke all the dads bar none were expressing how appalled they were and the keeper's dad was so angry and upset, not ever happening to his DD, will be over his dead body etc.
There was a bit of chat previously when Imaine Khalif was boxing during the Olympics but this has brought the issue front and centre. We are all appalled that the FA just waves these men with lady-feelings through into women's football, a sport that has been making such great strides for (bio)women and girls in recent years.

I had a teen in that regional league a couple of years ago now and I cannot imagine that the parents from my teen's team would be less horrified than your DD's team. It is appalling.

Sutton was the one team though that I felt had rather aggressive coaching staff and parents.

Snowypeaks · 11/09/2024 13:16

Well, that is interesting.
Maybe there is trouble in paradise after all. Perhaps a player revolt? From the other team as well? If so, hope it extends to the manager and the Sutton United Women board.

BH is still on the website, but perhaps it has not been updated.

Sutton United women's football team appears to be all-female now. Do we know what happened to Blair Hamilton?

I'd be very interested to find out.

Absolutely hideous picture of L Clark on that link.

I've seen, although not read, headlines about how the training and management of women's football is dominated by men. Those photos really drove it home, they're all men. I'll definitely read the next article I see because I want to know why that is. I don't believe it's because there are no women who are qualified. Possibly the women's teams are seen as a side hustle, that the trainers and managers take on in addition to their main job with the men's teams (gawd forbid a woman would do that). Or they're a step the men take before proceeding to the real prize of the men's teamsHmm. Whatever, if there are women interested enough to play, they'll be interested enough to do the other jobs too. So, football, why aren't they?
