Article in the Telegraph:
www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/08/31/transgender-manager-signs-biological-male-keeper-women-team/

And protests from sex realists on Twitter. These men are making their dislike of women really clear now, aren't they?

sounds promising in theory but there must be a risk that Ms Clark will double down, replacing non-handmaiden squad members with more men.

"Sutton United abruptly postponed their scheduled match at Ebbsfleet United on Sunday amid a mounting furore over the signing of Blair Hamilton, a biological male, as their women’s goalkeeper.

The notice of postponement was issued so late, within three hours of the scheduled 2pm kick-off time, that Ebbsfleet ended up donating their matchday supplies to a local food bank. While Sutton offered no explanation for their failure to assemble a team, it is understood that the cancellation is related to increasing disquiet around Hamilton’s involvement and the implications for sporting fairness."

Within hours of Telegraph Sport reporting on Hamilton’s controversial call-up by Lucy Clark, Sutton Women’s transgender manager, the club sent an email to Ebbsfleet at 11.12am confirming that they had been unable to put a team together but offered no reasons why. Parents of several players in the London & South East Premier Division, where Sutton compete, have privately expressed unease about a player carrying the physiological advantages of male puberty competing in women’s football. "

I bet the women are bloody fuming at losing their goalie! I hope they all told Clarke to shove the match where the sun doesn't shine

Keepingcosy · 01/09/2024 21:50

Trans identified male's needs & desires conflict with women's. Here's an excellent but headbanging example of it.

Lucy Clarke is only interested in an opportunity to validate LCs identity, in this case opening up the team to more TiMs.

It's something which a few years ago would have been laughable. Now it's difficult to see a funny side, I can only see this as cheating and Men's rights.

Well, here's a quote from him at the end of the more recent Telegraph article

Clark, 51, has shown little compunction about making such choices, saying in 2022: “At some point we will field a team solely of trans women for the first time in history. How good is that?”

A team solely made up of men! Can't see that catching on 🤔

Keepingcosy · 01/09/2024 22:27

Can't they just sack their manager?

As Sharron Davies says, women need to come together and say No.

Truthlikeness · 01/09/2024 22:50

The FA's rules forbid you from complaining about trans identifying males in female games. Teams can actually be fined if their supporters point out the reality of someone's sex on the pitch. The FA are complicit in destroying women's football and putting lives at risk. I hope the female players at Sutton have good support.

In 2022, before joining Sutton, Clark wrote on social media: “At some point we will field a team solely of trans women for the first time in history. How good is that?”

Why would that be at all likely, "Lucy"? How more blatant could they be?

I hope the entire Men's (Wo)Man City team announce they are ladies purely to thwart the fucker. We could also have (Wo)Man United, Fey-ton Orient, Tottenham (Am I)Hotspur?, (In)Celtic, Queer Park Rangers.

So wrong😠

I love football chants, apart from the offensive ones of course - so funny and creative, like a visiting crowd commenting on the architectural style of a new very modern stand with:
Made out of Lego,
Your stand is made out of Lego

so I look forward to a suitable adaptation of
Shit and you know it
Your goalie's shit and you know it

Male and you know it...?
Grin

I think I'd have gone with "Your goalie is a fella" to the tune of "the referee's a wanker" but fans at the women's games tend to be more supportive of their own team than abusive of the opposition, so it's unlikely to catch on.

anyolddinosaur · 02/09/2024 08:31

Pleased the women have made their feelings clear. The other teams in the league were also apparently licking off about the risk of injury so if he recruits a entirely male team they may not get a match.

Snowypeaks · 02/09/2024 16:26

Not quite "meh" about Clark as the manager.
A male manager with no previous experience displaced a female manager who did have experience. It's one thing to draw on the huge pool of experienced male coaches in the absence of, or in preference to the tiny pool of talented but mostly inexperienced women coaches, quite another to make an appointment which has the appearance of having been made because the male claimed a special identity.

And yeah - stay out of the women's changing room, Clark.

The women - Sutton United, all the women footballers in the team in their division, should take the FA to court. It's their policy which is enabling this. I'm impressed that Sutton Women are protesting, Hastings FC Women (team Blair Hamilton previously played for) were happy about it. And no wonder - their goal difference improved massively from the season BH arrived.

A Hastings women fan was banned from the ground for pointing out that the goalkeeper was male.

Fair point

Truthlikeness · 02/09/2024 21:25

I doubt very much all the players from Hastings FC were happy about it, but the fear of saying anything is very real

Igmum · 02/09/2024 21:47

Oh FFS. It's a less glitzy version of Ru Paul's drag race.

Having a biological male as a goalkeeper is particularly dangerous in my opinion. They run directly at the other players and use their fists at head height in a way other positions can't.

There is also a lot of press about the risks of brain damage from heading the ball. Women are particularly vulnerable because of our weaker necks and skulls. Now imagine the force of the kick of a male goalie and the poor midfielder who is expected to head that. Heading the ball is no joke - even from a weaker female kick. I often used to 'blink out' for a moment - this the best way I can describe it. I have to live with the risk of suffering dementia or depression, caused by damage I did my brain because male coaches forced us to head the ball because 'it's not dangerous'.

Any male player v female player is going to be dangerous if both are committing. I've seen a fair amount of nasty injuries while watching my (EFL) team and I'd hate to see the result if one of the parties was a woman. But I do take your point about keepers, last season an opposition keeper took out our striker jumping up with hands/arms out at head height and landed on our guy as they both fell - he was out for weeks with concussion/collarbone/shoulder injury.

(Add insult to injury the ref gave a foul AGAINST our guy as he was stretchered off.)

Ms Clark is the one who sits in police cars with signs and bitches about JKR right?

I think Ms Clark should carry on managing as they see fit and showing who they are and how much they respect women.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 03/09/2024 06:48

The average height of goalkeepers in the 2022 men’s World Cup was 6ft 2in.

The average height of goalkeepers in the 2023 women’s World Cup was 5ft 8in.

just sayin…

Helleofabore · 03/09/2024 09:07

So rather than taking the time that Clark had to train up female talent or make another female ‘loan’, Clark allowed Clark’s political agenda to shine.

This is what has happened whenever a male person becomes a Women’s Officer as an example. It means that female people’s rights and needs becoming a secondary consideration. Sutton U FC should be ashamed.

Although, I just realised which team this is. This is the team that I suspected of having a male player in one of the female children’s teams. It was before I knew what was happening.

They are such knobheads. Protocols and guidelines, indeed - as if that was the issue.
