The Flying Bats football team has won the North West Sydney Women’s Premier League grand final 5-4.
They finished the competition undefeated.
Over the season they scored 76 goals with only 8 scored against them.
David, who was at the grand final game on the weekend, spoke to Ben Fordham on 2GB and said that before the game, security guards were checking bags for camera equipment. He surmised that the reason they were doing this was because they didn’t want anyone capturing video evidence of the males thrashing the women. He also claimed that there were very loud boos when the final whistle blew.
It is incredible that the North West Sydney Premier League deemed it appropriate and fair for this male dominated team to continually humiliate the female players week in and week out despite their protests.
To their credit, 2 teams forfeited each game against the Bats.
There needs to be a lot of serious reflection by the association and clubs for next season.
They need to send a message loud and clear such misogyny and the erasure of women’s sex-based rights will not be tolerated.

No and I don’t blame them. The pile on would be relentless. They’d lose sponsorship and possibly even their playing contract. These people are absolutely mad with power and they will wield it with glee.

There are men playing in the top US league (NWSL) already. The number one team (Orlando Pride) has a male forward currently breaking records and getting fawned over in the press.

Just thought I’d share the photos from the Mail in case anyone doesn’t want to give them a click. It’s not hard to spot the trans players in the line-up, imo. It’s nothing to do with styling or femininity- there’s just a maleness that typically stands out, even in smaller men.

i just don’t understand these laws/rules. How can anyone possibly insist that it’s fair and right?? It’s just utterly bewildering.

Every time I hear something mad I think “ah it’s ok, it’ll be sorted out by the sanity of law” - but that’s not the case any more, is it?!

I’m delighted to live on TERF Island. I know we still have many, many problems with trans individuals trampling women’s rights but we’re not as bad as Canada or Australia.

I think it took until my early 40s to really start seeing the institutional misogyny and how even as women, we often unwittingly swallow harmful tropes and beliefs. Discrimination against women is so ingrained in society - it’s hiding in plain sight.

I feel like when it's men speaking out about it they're not all that harshly punished as compared to women.

Iwonder if it's to do with funding? If clubs leave or split, who gets to claim the name, the funding, etc?

What always strikes me with this, is I don't know any men who would not feel deeply embarrassed to do this kind of thing. Even guys I think are kind of assholes.

He's a remarkable outlier. I remember Gaia remarking to some male journalists that they got praise for writing more or less the same material that she had that had attracted the usual threats of violence for her. And they agreed with her.

Richard Garside (Centre for Crime and Justice Studies) was subjected to some criticism for his support for GC perspectives (FWR threads available). He said that it was nothing on the scale of what women attract for the same views.

I'm not aware of James Kirkup encountering much hostility (thankfully) but perhaps he just hasn't mentioned it in public.

I think at some point we need to realize that someone is just yanking our chains and stop taking things so seriously

I would rather not frame it as women being humiliated, rather that they are being swindled by these men masquerading as women.

I agree that it's in no way humiliating for women to be bested by men in a sporting arena. The people who humiliate themselves when this happens are the deluded men and women who facilitate it.

I’m finding it inexplicable that people (mostly men) seem to think that unless women athletes start refusing to participate in a sport (as a protest against males competing against them) then they have no right to complain.

I can’t understand this thinking: women have only recently been able to gain increased media coverage and salaries/sponsorships for their sports and now society at large wants them to put all that at risk to point out the bleeding obvious fact that men shouldn’t be allowed to compete in women’s sport?!
