The Flying Bats football team has won the North West Sydney Women’s Premier League grand final 5-4.
They finished the competition undefeated.
Over the season they scored 76 goals with only 8 scored against them.
David, who was at the grand final game on the weekend, spoke to Ben Fordham on 2GB and said that before the game, security guards were checking bags for camera equipment. He surmised that the reason they were doing this was because they didn’t want anyone capturing video evidence of the males thrashing the women. He also claimed that there were very loud boos when the final whistle blew.
It is incredible that the North West Sydney Premier League deemed it appropriate and fair for this male dominated team to continually humiliate the female players week in and week out despite their protests.
To their credit, 2 teams forfeited each game against the Bats.
There needs to be a lot of serious reflection by the association and clubs for next season.
They need to send a message loud and clear such misogyny and the erasure of women’s sex-based rights will not be tolerated.

It's disgraceful. When they're trying to block filming it's because they know it's wrong.

I know we shouldn't look for accuracy but there have been threads about the Flying Bats on FWR earlier this year and before. We noticed when other teams forfeited. Why did that advocacy group think that teams had been forfeiting sooner than play if the realisation about the composition of the team manifested only in the last week?

There go our high, squeaky voices again, rendering us not only invisible but unable to be heard. Curses.

Look at the size of those men compared to the women. FFS

It's not the women who are humiliated.

It's the cheaters who didn't want the evidence filmed.

Apparently, six of the other teams had forfeited their games so that the women and girls wouldn’t have to be playing at higher risk of injury.

Why didn't they want to be filmed?

Delighted to take this opportunity to share the largely-suppressed photo of a transgender player, Giulia Valentino, competing in a women's Gaelic football match in 2022.
Like the recent Tickle v Giggle case, the most obvious photo i.e. one showing trans person involved, was NOT used in a lot of the press coverage of this match. Obviously the evidence of the eyes would be too telling, which probably explains the banning of cameras at the Flying Bats' match.

The 'trans player in GAA match' story was high-profile for a bit, there was a lot of discussion about trans biological males in women's sports for a while, but Mr Valentino did not go on forge a stellar career in women's sports, fortunately and things went back to the usual fudge of ignore the issue until something newsworthy like this happens.

It’s worth mentioning that Valentino (who of course insisted that taking oestrogen negates the advantages conferred by male puberty 🙄) was playing in a Club match, not a County one. So almost certainly - especially given it was Na Fianna’s^ ladies E team - there were 15/16 year olds on the opposing side, as you can play up to 2 grades up in Club LGF.

This is the - frankly pitiful - policy they came up with in 2023. Over 18s have to reduce their testosterone to 10nm/l & be “living as a woman”. 12-16 yo just need to be doing the latter - a mercy they don’t need to be on puberty blockers for their [future] health; but devastating for their female peers. 16-17 yo have to suppress their testosterone to 10nm/l for 12 months atop the social transitioning. We all know testosterone suppression is not adequate for fairness; nor for safety. Rushing teens into medicalisation in the interests of continuing their hobby is also a staggeringly bad idea.

^ looking at the Club badge with the sword on it, I’m assuming Fianna as in warriors rather than deer; but now I’m imagining warrior deer & frankly that’s much cooler… (& yes I find the political party name funny too, because I am an actual child)

As the good denizens of FWR may recall from the thread about March’s referendum, Article 41 of the Irish Constitution highlights women’s unpaid domestic/caring work as indispensable to the welfare of the Nation and the State.

In particular, the State recognises that by her life within the home, woman gives to the State a support without which the common good cannot be achieved.
The State shall, therefore, endeavour to ensure that mothers shall not be obliged by economic necessity to engage in labour to the neglect of their duties in the home.

How many of the players the LGFA are so enthusiastically welcoming focus on domestic & caring tasks I wonder 🤔

I say let this one play out. Eventually there will be more men than women on the field, and sense will prevail. Sucks for the female players in the meantime, but sometimes just letting the madness unfold to it's natural conclusion is the thing that will work

Yes I think it will get worse before it gets better but in doing so will hi light how ridiculous this bullshit is. The rest of the world is slowly coming around to it.

How can the women play on the team with them? Shameless cheaters too! Unless they are being forced to? But doesn't sound like it!
