Seen this today...Is anyone surprised? I'm not at all. And yet he has groomed so many young men and all you hear from them is how he's being 'framed'

No, I'm not surprised. No one on FWR is an Andrew Tate fan, are they?

Hoardasurass · 21/08/2024 15:50

Nope

LeFromage · 21/08/2024 16:27

My son has introduced me to Kendrick Lamarr and I followed his take down of Drake with interest. What was fascinating was K’s They Not Like Us song was about men who groom young girls (accusing Drake and his circle) - the lyrics were very on point - the They in the title being child groomers / paedophiles - so it gave me a little hope that there’s a contingent of young men who view men like Drake and Tate as huge losers because of their behaviours towards young women and underage girls.

I saw Tate was getting racist abuse recently and despite wanting to appeal to the strong man/ fascist youngsters hadn’t figured out that it wouldn’t take much for some of his fan base to turn on him for having a black father. He is so disconnected from reality living in a fantasy world where he is the alpha predator he couldn’t predict that the people he’s courting are likely to be racist. That was strange to me.

The man is dead behind the eyes. Every time I hear of him I feel for his mum escaping the abusive dad to come back to the UK and then the growing ideological hold the dad still exerted over his sons and the dawning feeling the sociopathic personality of the dad had been inherited by her eldest. Tristan the younger son has been completely dominated by Andrew his whole life.

WickedSerious · 21/08/2024 16:33

I'm about as shocked as I was when Elton John and Renate called it a day.

I'd bloody hope not.

He has NO chin, never underestimate what that physical lack does to the psychology of a guy like Tate. Ditto more obvious lacks down below.

Whats FWR?

'Feminism and Women's Rights' is the official MN name for this and Feminism: Chat.
I suppose we should call this FS&G.

LeFromage · 21/08/2024 17:47

Yes - I thought that too. his lack of chin must drive him crazy especially when the silent brother does have a chin. And now the balding. The fragility of his ego and sense of self is being projected on every woman and girl he comes into contact with. I hope they both spend a long long time in Romanian prisons. Kudos to the Romanian police in all of this and the women who have spoken out. The recent Sky documentary on him was as vile and disturbing as you might imagine.

Thanks. Yet more flipping acronyms, we are becoming increasingly inarticulate as a species, soon we will go full circle back to grunting.
FS&G

I watched the channel 4 documentary about this scum and it was terrifying to see him with his very young daughter already dominating and indoctrinating her.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/08/2024 17:56

I think FWR is more the historical name than the 'official' one. But if you look at the url for a thread on this board, you'll see this board is womens_rights.

Andrew Tate - Minors www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/5147392-5147392-andrew-tate-minors

The 'feminism chat' one is /feminism/

Well, if it's one or t'other, given that 'feminism' can mean anything or nothing nowadays, 'womens rights' is fine by me for what people on this board generally want!

OMG thats just ghastly, I hope someone stages an intervention.

If anyone hasn't done so, or isn't up to speed on this, frankly, scumbag, I recommend watching Andrew Tate: The Man Who Groomed The World, available of BBC iPlayer.

I think I'd rather chew my own leg off than give headspace to him tbh.

I agree. We're all products of our upbringing and he's basically like his dad. I feel that he's preparing for spending his life behind bars. I wouldn't go thinking that Tristan is any better though. They're both in on it together.

I know. I was horrified. I presume the mother is a woman who for reasons of vulnerability and/ or money has stayed with him.
I wished I could call social services. What must this poor child’s life be like?

LeFromage · 21/08/2024 18:52

Oh I don’t have any sympathy for Tristan - it just reminds me of the Kray brothers. I wasn’t so shocked to learn Ronnie raped Reggie. Not saying Andrew has done this to Tristan but his thirst for complete dominance means Tristan will never be his own person even if he wanted to be.

I’ve always had an aversion to cigars, but since these two came along my response is visceral. These men are revolting.

Horrifyingly, considering what a deviant he is, I would suspect he is doing even worse than that to her.

LeFromage · 21/08/2024 20:40

I just watched the BBC documentary on Tate’s War Room inner circle of men who pay him to learn how to sexually and financially exploit women (while being exploited themselves 🤨) and it was interesting to find out who the Generals are in charge of brain washing the men. Was a slightly different angle to Ch4 and Sky documentaries and interesting to watch in light of government proposals on treating women hating as terrorism. It’s a cult - one of the generals in the war room is an aged pick up artist who specialises in NLP so listening to him groom the men to groom the women is weird. Not saying this to exculpate the men more to emphasise how organised it is like an MLM style grift.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/08/2024 20:47

Doesn't surprise me at all that there is a PUA involved in training these men, creepy fuckers.

I'm not sure this group of relatively young, right-wing libertarian macho types thinks about race issues the way older people tend to conceptualize race issues.

There's a good number of black men that fall into this group, guys like Tate or Drake are not unique. Even a group like the Proud Boys in the US are multi-racial.

I'm not sure what I think about this sort of commentary.
I find Tate about as charismatic as wet lettuce. I wonder sometimes if the commentariat don't need a boogy man because it's part of progressive dogma that porn is empowerful liberatory stuff and so it can't be that watching internet porn from the age of 11 or 12 is what is making so many boys hate filled, agressive misogynists.
I'm not suggesting for a moment that Tate is anything other than vile. I hope the women and girls that he has raped and trafficked get everything they need to heal and flourish, and I hope he can be stopped from doing the same again. But I don't think he has an oversized influence on other men and boys. He's saying what other men and boys are already thinking, and the reason so many male people think like that these days is because they are socialised, their entire sexual socialisation, happens via a steady stream of pornhub videos and only fans interactions.
I've never spoken to anyone else about this, and I've never read a similar opinion here or elsewhere, so I'm curious to know what women here think.

I'd say Yes and No on this. He is the biggest male 'influencer' in this space, and his reach is very large. While there has always been boys and men who believe and think those things already, his voice reaches new ears and indoctrinates them into this way of thinking. While porn is definitely a massive part of the problem, it's a chicken or egg situation. For the porn to show those values, someone had those values and so on.

Unfortunately people see him 'living the high life' and think he must be riht look how great his life is blah blah blah and put more weight behind his frankly imbecilic words. Think of how he would be perceived if he wasn't 'successful' by conventional standards? If he met the stereotype of man living in his mums basement who hated women. He wouldn't be listened to anywhere near as much.
