According to The Scotsman:

I’m an extremely emotionally needy non-binary person: my pronouns are ‘there there’

That is actually quite funny.

FarewellMsSorrow · 19/08/2024 15:41

I like it.

GloriaSmornin · 19/08/2024 15:45

Funny

DramaLlamaBangBang · 19/08/2024 15:49

Ha ha good one. Surprised to see it make the list though ( or even said)

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 19/08/2024 15:50

That's really funny

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/08/2024 15:51

Yes, I thought it was interesting that it was even in the routine, never mind shortlisted! A hopeful sign, I'd like to think.

Hairyesterdaygonetoday · 19/08/2024 15:52

Made me laugh!

What's even more surprising is that it's in the Guardian. According to them it's number 9, so it makes their top 10.

Mark Simmons’ ship joke named funniest of Edinburgh fringe

Comedian was in top 10 on three previous occasions – here are this year’s best gags, as voted for by a public panel

One to remember if anyone finds they're in a job where they're forced to pick pronouns. 🤣

WaterThyme · 19/08/2024 16:02

Firstly, someone dared poke fun like this.
Secondly, major newspapers saw it as funny.
Thirdly, there’s no way of condemning it without looking ridiculous, petty and humourless. That would just strengthen its message.

What do you think the message is

Hard to tell. Apparently Sarah Keyworth identifies as non-binary and has had a double mastectomy.

Sarah Keyworth is non-binary, and using they/them pronouns (as well as she and he apparently).

BackToLurk · 19/08/2024 16:37

I liked the Gaslight joke.

anyolddinosaur · 19/08/2024 16:46

Funnier than the one that was regarded as the best joke.

WaterThyme · 19/08/2024 16:50

I take it as making it ok to laugh at the so-called “most vulnerable and marginalised”. The sacred caste are not actually sacred.

Once you can laugh at the ridiculousness of gender ideology more people will dare to and more of it will be exposed.

That may not be the intended message, and there is always the argument that group X can laugh at themselves but others can’t. I think that will become harder to maintain.

Kath Viner has been backpeddling the last couple of months.
I trust her, not at all, I honestly wish she has a comeuppance.

OuterSpaceCadet · 20/08/2024 07:48

It's hilarious. However the comedian who made the joke IDs as NB. Don't think another person would get away with it.

She's really funny and sweet seeming although usually less so when talking about the gender stuff as she appears to have zero understanding of people who actually reject gender stereotypes.

She's a really good example of where you end up if you truly believe your only options in life are those exemplified by politics in the USA. Eg, that a belief in gender is inevitable. You just have to choose Trump or Biden for how you live with gender.

Made me laugh!

Me too although I’m surprised Humza hasn’t condemned it as a Non-Hate Crime Incident.

Go me thinking gender ideology puts a whole new twist on 'you'll have had your T?'

It is late at night and I may have had a drink or two but this has led me to the massive difference between a Gin and T and a Gin and IT.

She is the woman who wrote a mawkish appeal to JKR appealing to a child "Luna" that she knew or had made up. At one point she suggested JKR should get her husband's approval before posting.
