I know there are lots of threads about the boxing but I just wanted to highlight the misogyny that surrounds the topic and the habit of monitoring what women say.
Laura Woods (a sports presenter) tweeted (or Xed) a compliment to an article by Oliver Brown of the Daily Telegraph about the boxing at the Paris Olympics. It's behind the Telegraph paywall but he summarised it as
'Blinded by ideology, paralysed by politics.
Inside story of the Paris 2024 boxing scandal: How the IOC put women in unnecessary danger, distorting biological truth in a lethal sport.'
Laura herself says:
'Since I replied to this article I’ve had numerous death threats to myself and my unborn child. Questions on my own gender (I’m pregnant so guess that clears that one up 😂) calls for my employers to sack me, threats to my home. I’ve been called a racist, a bigot and a sexist as well as various insults - cnt, slg etc.
I’ve also been asked why I haven’t raised any concerns on this topic before? See above for your answer.
When there are discrepancies with test results - which could impact the safety of another human being, in an environment that above all else should be fair - questions are quite rightly going to be asked. The answers are still unclear, otherwise this topic would be closed.'
She says she's been reading material by Emma Hilton.
Of course it's all too predictable but it's been going on for days now. Even the BBC are covering the story now:

Martina has tweeted her support but the level of vitriol she has received would be staggering to anyone who isn't already familiar with what's been happening.
