This isn't "thread 2" of that thread. It's a separate thread about an article.

The article is only tangentially linked to the Angela Carini thread as someone posted it there.

It was posted on several other threads before being posted on that thread. I think it's a perfectly reasonable idea to start a thread discussing the article, but it's not actually a second thread of the Carini thread, which is still ongoing with plenty of space left to post on.

Thats why I was asking you as Ive never done a linked thread before. I googled how to but was none the wiser.

Theres no real need to link the other thread, just give the new thread a title which mentions the article it's about. It's done now, but it is confusing because the other thread isn't really relevant to this one.

If you want to link to a Mumsnet thread anywhere on the internet depending how you're accessing MN click "share" and copy and paste the link.

So for me on the app I click the little arrow to the right of the top post and it gives me the option to share. In the same place you can do other things.

I was trying to help you learn to link a thread as you said you didn't know how. I don't use the desktop site.
