Hmmm. Wondering if he's just better completely ignored?
Surely he is just getting the attention he wants through all this publicity?

Looks like Noddy Holder.

😆😆😆

YellowAsteroid · 04/08/2024 14:48

No woman dressing like that would be employed or taken seriously. It's totally outrageous.

Iamonsocialmediatoomuch · 04/08/2024 11:23

He seems to have dressed like this for some time, so one wonders if his bahaviour is escalating?
I know someone who works there and generally they are quite left wing ex students and it would take quite a lot to trigger this sort of complaint.
He's obviously peaked quite a lot of people in there - good for him.

Generally quite left wing ex students ? What a load of nonsense

To some extent very senior people like Bunce at C Suite level indicate that some people are given some leeway in dress that relatively junior rank women never would be.

Deborah Tannen used to refer to the very narrow bands in which women's behaviour is acceptable, and "marked" behaviour (e.g., women who don't wear make-up can have this held as a detriment but 'unsuitable' make-up would likewise be a detriment).

SidewaysOtter · 04/08/2024 21:57

We all know that a woman turning up to work like that would be spoken to about inappropriate dress. The article states as much.

But a man rocks up in that get-up and he’s “stunning and brave”.

Fuck that shit.

This.

When I was in HMRC we had several goths in the office. They had a hint of goth about them, but when you saw them out of hours they really dressed up. Not so in the office.

Thank you.

As a former Goth I'm quite annoyed by the people on Reddit saying 'it's not fetish, he's just a goth!'

We goths know what is and isn't acceptable in the workplace as much as anyone. When I was a goth I would wear a small nod to it in the workplace such as a ring and a hint of heavy eyeliner. I wore my full gear out of work.

This man is simply imposing his fetish on others, as AGPs are wont to do.

Namechangey23 · 05/08/2024 22:04

How do you know this person is even real and not dreamt up by some students at Bradford university looking for laughs and to wind up mumsnetters....? Lots of AI images and easy to fake a twatter account (sorry X). The photo looks like Noddy holder or jimmy savill for crying out loud, can't be real 😂?!

TheCadoganArms · 04/08/2024 11:16

I really hope the 'bring your whole self to work' fad days are numbered. Please can you just bring your professional self to work and not be an attention seeking twat. Do that on your own time.

100%

@Namechangey23 this man is most definitely real.

PUER125 · 05/08/2024 22:54

I used to work with Saorsa, and 'her ' clothing was the subject of much discussion. The usual consensus was a proper woman wouldn't get away with it.
Management were definitely scared of handling 'her'.
'She' also wears a velvet,or velour cape and a top hat as outer wear.
Having said that, before his transition, Mark always wore a kilt, a once white ruffled dress shirt, and high heeled boots.
Rumour had it that he called in at the local police station on his way to work one St. Andrews day, with a dagger down his sock to make sure he was legally allows to carry the dagger in public.

That's exactly what I think. Clearly soarse wants attention and the best way to deal with an attention seeker is not to feed the drama. "I like your corset, where did you get it" would probably be the most constructive way to deal with this as I imagine he is looking for a negative reaction so bland acceptance followed by complete indifference would deny that entirely and also would rob him of any opportunity to complain. "She said she liked my tights the transphobic Terf ! "

Perhaps them just misheard it as "bring your arsehole self to work"?

myotherdogisadonkey · 06/08/2024 01:16

There's another wan in my husband's work(civil service) in inappropriate dress like this but younger. Bra top . Skirt up his arse. Goth makeup(nowt wrong with that but the skirt n bra top ick)with immature beard and bad wig. Guy in his twenties. High boots with stilettoe heels. None of the other women dress like that even the goth lassies. I'm sure they would get pulled up for it.

myotherdogisadonkey · 06/08/2024 01:30

@TeaGinandFags exactly! I have always been a bit of a rockabilly and even now in my early 50s, I have my winged eyeliner and a bit of red lippy on most days . I have always dressed very smart at work though, with formal shirts and smart trousers. I don't get paid to turn up in biker jeans ffs!

FrancescaContini · 06/08/2024 08:34

Grim 🤮 special identity = assumption of usual rules not applicable.

AdultHumanEmail · 07/08/2024 09:42

Disgusting. These sick freaks wearing fishnet tights to the office should be ashamed of themselves. Chokers are hardcore BDSM gear, not the sort of thing you should wear to the 10 A.M. team meeting! I'd say what I think should happen to these people but then I'd be banned...

BezMills · 08/08/2024 07:24

There have been some good posts upthread about sensible ways to deal with this attention-seeking behaviour.

I've pushed the boundaries on dress code here or there, and have received advice once or twice if I crossed a line (old school insurance office dress code), so that's not a glass house I would throw stones at, personally.

CriticalCondition · 08/08/2024 08:57

The choker hides the Adam's apple. That's also why you see so many fey looking 'hand under the chin' poses in their online selfies.
