No shortage of them!

Just watching the amazing Katie Ledecky crushing the opposition over 1500m. What a woman.

All of Australia’s gold medals so far (seven) have been won by women.

I bloody love this thread.

Multiple women in the rowing this morning who are also mothers who have returned to the sport and are on the podium.

So fantastic how many of them are mothers.

Amazing races this morning. So good to watch.

Angela Carini for having to face a man in the boxing ring.

Hear hear.
And now she has had to abandon her match let’s hope the disgusting cowards at the IOC throw the dirty cheats out.
Angela Carini, brave woman.

Angela Carini.

That's heartbreaking for her. That first punch was clearly a sign of what was to come.

And shame on all those saying her opponent has a right to fight women in the name of inclusiveness. Women are being excluded from their own category.

South Korean archers and US gymnasts (if we are talking just gold medallists).

PermanentTemporary · 01/08/2024 14:48

Not necessarily gold medallists, or even medallists. I loved all the triathlon action and thought anyone who finishes at all is a bloody hero, but loved Beth Potter getting her bronze with such cheerfulness.

I am fascinated by the Korean Ladies Archery team. Entry requirements are dead simple. You need to be-very pretty and better at archery than anyone else on the planet. Since ladies archery was re-introduced to the olympics in 1988 their have been 10 gold medals awarded. The Korean Ladies have won all of them. Count them.

Simone Biles, just amazing.

I'll be back with more.

esmeisa · 01/08/2024 20:30

Our female divers. 4 bronzes in the synchro diving

But a special mention for the Chinese divers who are on another level.

That vault. That floor tumbling. Simply incredible.

Absolutely. What a master class that was.

GailBlancheViola · 01/08/2024 20:51

Sarah Sjostrom, Swedish swimmer who won Gold last night. One of the most decorated swimmers in the history of swimming and this is her first Olympic gold medal at the age of 30 and her shocked and delighted face was a joy to behold.

braaaiiins · 01/08/2024 20:58

No one has mentioned the rugby players yet. Phenomenal athletes. They've been my highlight so far and the Haka from the Kiwis gave me goosebumps.

GailBlancheViola · 01/08/2024 20:59

Lola Anderson, Hannah Scott, Lauren Henry and Georgie Brayshaw taking Gold in the women's sculls beating the Netherlands on the line by 0.15 seconds, kept going until the very end and were rewarded with the win.

Just watching the BMX racing. The UK's Beth Shriever is astounding. She doesn't seem to have a nerve in her body! Defending her Gold from Tokyo. Final tomorrow. According to Wikipedia, before Tokyo Shriever worked part-time as a teaching assistant in a nursery to cover some of her costs of training and travelling because UK Sport had decided that only male riders would be supported heading towards Tokyo 2020. I imagine she's blown that out of the water now. She's in a different league to all the other women in her event.
