So proud of the Mayor of Paris cleaning up the Seine

Its utterly historic, no one else has done it, but now a woman and her team have pulled it off.
And its so important for the rest of us, particularly our sewage poisoned waterways. Anyway I wrote to her to congratulate her as part of my new policy to show gratitude to any leader or public servant who does something smart by way of encouragement.
I know she is ostensibly supportive of Tra but the more we come across as reasonable if incensed and passionate, the more they will listen.

Yes well done to her and her team. 👍👏

It’s nice, but how does it relate to feminism

The first ever female mayor of Paris being the first person to clean up the Seine?
Its a great public achievement by a woman in a still very sexist country, thats how.
Should we not celebrate acheivements or is it only about bemoaning our losses?

It’s a great achievement for sure. The article / journo seems at great pains to avoid mentioning sewage: “fluctuating pollution levels” “bacteria laden storm water” etc

Historic indeed. I've read various accounts of seventeenth century visitors to the city saying how much it stank.

I never said we shouldn’t celebrate it - I didn’t know that she was the first female mayor

She's also created loads of new cycle lanes which are very well used, and has supported affordable rents in the centre of Paris which are tied to salaries so lower paid workers are not pushed out to the suburbs.

Yes, she is generally good news as far as I can see.

Woman capable of doing well in job shocker.

I saw that and just assumed she was trying to show that the evil female Parisian mayor in new shark movie "under Seine" was NOT based on her!

Snowypeaks · 20/07/2024 13:22

Congratulations to her and to Paris!
