Well, what conclusions could be drawn? The Economist seems to leave it to the reader. 🐔

lanadelgrey · 11/07/2024 22:02

That is a v neat article, writing what can be written with the Economist’s lawyers peering over the writer’s shoulder screaming delete, delete or we’ll be sued.
WPATH with much to lose and no doubt a team of SHLs on speed dial would not hesitate to go to court

I believe the article is by Jesse Singal; he and Katie Herzog discuss it in a recent Blocked and Reported.

Oddly no attribution.

I took it to mean that any work the Hopkins research team has failed to meet WPATH’s requirements, but I might be reading too much into it? I hope The Economist (and any other news organisation brave enough) has a closer look at WPATH….

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 11/07/2024 22:28

Helen Joyce used to work at The Economist. I hope her ex-colleagues are still listening to her.

Economist never has attributions. It’s policy not to have bylines. Or always used to have that policy.

That might explain why no comment about eunuchs, although they both know about it, Glinner made sure of that 😂

RedToothBrush · 11/07/2024 23:25

The Economist is read by a certain type of person. If the Economist is saying this, the story is reaching an interesting and influential audience. It only takes one to sit up and take notice and they took have some interesting ears to bend.
