Gender recognition panel judicial review decision

A transwoman applied for a gender recognition certificate and was refused by the panel. It went to judicial review and the decision was overturned and the transwoman got the certificate.

The panel were not convinced the individual was committed to “living as a woman” for the rest of their life because they had a non binary identity, and they wanted to keep a fully functioning penis. The individual came off hormone treatment for a while because they didn’t like the impacts it had on their sex drive and sexual performance. The panel thought that wanting to live as a woman with a male sex organ was odd, to say the least (while acknowledging that there is no requirement to have treatment or surgery to get a certificate).

The decision was overturned because the panel ignored the fact that the individual had a passport , driving license etc in a female name which was apparently conclusive of living as a woman and so that should have ended the matter.

the odd thing about this decision is it’s trivially easy to change your id and your name. It doesn’t really seem like a mere name change constitutes “living as a woman”, but that’s what the judgment says.

The transwoman has posted online that they are delighted with the decision, and say this is a big triumph as it shows you can live as a woman while still retaining a penis and being non binary.

it seems to me that the concept of “living as a woman” is entirely useless , and if you have id in a female name plus gender dysphoria that is sufficient.

Is this the man who wanted to be called a non binary woman, keep his penis while having access to women undressing in changing rooms, showers, hospital wards etc?

Demonstrates everything that women have said all along about this charade.

Man Friday back in 2018 proved how easily they could change the sex of their driving licences.

Thanks for showing me the other thread! I totally missed it. What struck me as weird is how getting your id changed is proof of living as a woman when anyone can get their id changed- it means living as a woman is essentially stripped of all substance. The panel arent even allowed to raise an eyebrow at someone wanting to keep their penis.

Hand them out like sweets. Toss them from the bloody roof tops, give them away free in cereal boxes. Everyone can have a piece of paper saying they're whatever they want, and I'll be a reincarnated elf thanks, identifying as tall, blond and six stone. Gatekeeping them was pointless anyway.

And that ends them being a pass into female only spaces. Finite incantatem.

Any male people indignantly protesting that what's the point of having one then are demonstrating what they wanted it for.

What a joke. 95% of these men keep their fully functioning penises. And what exactly is "living as a woman"? Losing their sex-based rights? Being subjected to lower pay, to lack of facilities, to being a service human? No, these men don't have to deal with any of that. On the contrary, they go from being the dominant sex to being the sacred caste of that sex, of whom no criticism, no disobedience by the service humans is permitted.
