Anyone got any quotes where she's showed herself up to be oblivious of women's concerns apart from the Julian Long prison question?

Wasn't she one of the people in the leadership contest with KS who signed a pledge to kick GC people out of the party (amongst other quite nasty demands on the same pledge)?

This was what she signed

I find this - from 2020 - excruciating to watch.
I really hope she has changed her position

s

Actually feel quite sorry for her, she seems awfully rattled and emotional in that interview. Hope it prompted a rethink.

Whatifitallgoesright · 10/07/2024 19:32

Not my era Lise....

"I think that the question for us is always about individual behaviour and it is right to recognise that there are women who have fought for generations in order to create safe spaces for women, who want to have a proper debate about how we best protect that in an era where we have recognised that trans men are men, trans women are women and we've got to do far more to protect trans women from harm as well."

A fucking commission? How is she so stupid? How does someone so stupid get so far in their career? As a temp I've been let go for so much less. Honestly.

Whatifitallgoesright · 10/07/2024 19:40

Do we think that this was four years ago and maybe Nandy's read some stuff since then or talked to some constituents and any of the services in her area? Shall we dare to hope? Ha ha aha haa ha ah ah a.

She's awful; she's learned nothing.

She does look completely out of her depth and frightened to say the wrong thing - but then she'd put herself forward as a party leader candidate, so...

Hepwo · 10/07/2024 22:35

It's now explicitly an intra left culture war. It always was but they could blame it on what Ange, the Deputy Prime Minister, calls Tory scum up until now.

Now it's their war on each other and the country.

'I'm a huge fan of athletics .. Caster Semenya ...'

She's at the end of the pier all week

On a local level, one thing I find hard to understand is that despite being the MP for Wigan, which, if it is known for anything, is known for rugby league, and the Warriors are not only League champions, Cup winners, and indeed, World champions, so you'd think most MPs would jump at the chance to ride on the coat-tails of that, but no, LN seems to ignore them completely, and has instead focussed her attention on the football team, who have lurched from one financial crisis to another, complete with dodgy cowboy foreign owners. Hardly the way to please many Wiganers. Not that her seat was ever really at risk, but it shows odd judgment to me. To be clear, though, her lack of support for the Warriors was not the reason she failed to get my vote! 😛

Chris Bryant is now a Minister in her Department.

And from an article in Attitude
We then address the question of self-ID. Last July, Starmer confirmed the party was backtracking on this issue, saying, “A woman is an adult female.” Echoing past statements on the matter, Bryant says, “Men have penises. Women have vaginas, and some people do not fall neatly into that either for medical or sociological or for whatever other reasons.” He adds, “We should be as generous as we possibly can to enable everybody to live the life that is right for them. That’s the society that I want us to build. The precise details about what age you should be able to do this, that, and the other, I think that’s a matter for evidence-based science rather than politicians mouthing off.”

They are going to wash their hands of the whole issue- it's for others to decide.

‘The culture war is over’

How long before she regrets that comment?

Here is her speech to Julia Long

She's dreadful 😫Best buds with my local MP too.
I could weep.

duc748 · 11/07/2024 11:34

The first time I saw that clip, I thought, that's funny! It doesn't seem funny now. And those comments from Bryant!

NotBadConsidering · 11/07/2024 11:46

It’s such a stupid term, “culture wars”🙄. Anything that requires a debate is now a “culture war”. Anything that requires a political discussion is a “culture war”. It’s a meaningless term. There HAS to be a debate of cultural ideas or philosophy at a political level if politicians have a hand in effecting change regarding the topic.

Given the conflict of women’s rights and trans rights requires politicians to look at laws and legislation they created, and requires clarity on policies and positions of governing bodies, why is that described as a “culture war”?

Just fuck off. It’s just a way of saying “we don’t want to deal with it, it’s too hard, so we will pass it off as something beneath us because we are oh so better than petty squabbling.” Sanctimonious bullshit.

crayonsharpeners · 11/07/2024 17:54

I do wonder if she's ever seen Caster Semenya being interviewed. He's unmistakably male.

duc748 · 11/07/2024 18:00

Those two kids are kinda a clue....

What does Chris Bryant mean by this? Anyone else find this alarmingly sinister?

Yes.
