Labour has got so much smarter on women's rights - but it's still in danger of treating this issue as a triviality to be triangulated around. Getting it right is a test of fitness to govern

What a great article.
Labour really need to get their act together post Cass. Otherwise they'll continue to be shown as evasive and frankly dangerous politicians who are unable to safeguard children and protect women from predatory men.

They are not unable to protect women and children they are unwilling to.It is a position which puzzles me. Would Starmer happily send his daughter to the Scottish school where girls are forced to share a changing
room or forfeit the right to participate in sport?
I would love to know that the children of mps are put through the same contemptuous treatment as everyone else's.

Sarah Ditum makes very interesting observations about biraderi, (I'd not heard that word before) which are essentially Muslim organisations of men that seek to keep women out of politics. Labour were warned about these by women but they chose to ignore the warnings because at the time the biraderi favoured Labour. Then they split away and fielded their own independent candidates in this last GE. We now have four in parliament.

I sometimes get the impression that Labour are worse at joining up the dots and forseeing the consequences of their actions than any of the other main parties.

Excellent article and a very good point about the Muslim groups. Labour are dire at women's issues. They really need to improve and I hope they will (can't say I'm optimistic mind you)
