The Independent is of course reporting it as an attack on trans rights. The idea of women & girls having rights is utterly fanciful. The Wall Street Journal manages to be somewhat more balanced; but it is enraging that so many people see Title IX as something that can be smashed up for the convenience of males. The false equivalence with employment protections is risible - but in no way funny.
The ruling itself runs to 47 pages, but is worth reading. The Catholic News Agency give you the key points; & there is some more from The Washington Examiner.
This pushback is absolutely vital. Title IX protections are invaluable for women & girls - we’ve already seen massive damage done in States where males are allowed to compete in the female category in sport. We’ve seen multiple girls [sexually] assaulted because males have been granted access to the female toilets & changing rooms - & the victims accused of bigotry for reporting the assault. Title IX is still needed; & legal protections for LGBT+ people require separate legislation, not the hijacking & destruction of Title IX.
Doubtless lots of the judiciary & legislators involved in the crucial pushback hold various other views I’d disagree with strenuously. So anyone thinking of digging up their voting records etc there’s no need. I’m not planning to add any of them to my Christmas card list; but this is a win for women’s rights..
