A survey of 2,146 voters by PeoplePolling found 48 per cent of those who backed Labour in 2019 supported the Tory manifesto pledge to amend the Equality Act to protect single-sex spaces such as lavatories and changing rooms. Just 20 per cent opposed it.

Meanwhile, more Labour voters rejected than supported the party’s manifesto proposal to amend the law to make it easier for people to change sex on birth certificates, with 40 per cent opposing it and 35 per cent in support.

You'll have to fight my dog. He loves socks!

Your dog loves socks but the socks that he loves belong to us.

I think that as with everything else it will depend on whether the media take it up.

So far all the right(?) wing papers have printed articles about the survey, ie Telegraph, Mail etc..

The results will only get traction if a radio or tv interviewer uses it as a basis for a question.

And I am afraid to say the media interviewers are usually so dumb or think we are so dumb that they couldn't manage a slightly more sophisticated question than the nice simple one of can women have a penis.

To try and frame a quesiton that says Labour supporters actually want the Tory policy of single sex spaces and the GRA, what is your comment is unlikely to be asked.

Dont forget, over and above how inadequate many of our politicians are, the biggest failure in this country is the abysmal standard of reporting. Everything is dumbed down to personalities etc..

However, for the future, we are going to need this information once Labour and their ex Stonewall politcy director starts to make getting a GRC easier.

I included the relevant link to the Sex Matters web page for anyone who wants to download or copy.

Even just the charts.

This seems like the perfect place to post the Matthew Goodwin interview with Triggernometry. This is the one after the last election, that Labour lost - where he talked about how the Labour people he presented his information to were uninterested and dismissive. Unlike the Tories who paid attention and asked questions.

It's also an excellent example of why many people think the political right seems to be offering more intellectual meat than the left is at the moment.

Then why comment?
🤷‍♀️

This thread is about the interesting survey results, which you have dismissed out of hand because of the company which undertook the survey. Why shouldn't I comment on you dismissing the results out of hand? You do know you're on Mumsnet, and discussion is what happens?

This is very much an issue with the left: dismissive of anybody they deem to be unworthy, rather than just paying attention and listening to what's going on around them.

God, I'm dreading the next 5 years.
