From their website:

‘Each silent gesture or unspoken word carries weight. Think about what you’re really saying’

So it is no longer just about policing language and telling us off for misgendering or saying that people can’t change sex; it’s now also about monitoring our gestures and facial expressions, or actions we might take such as stepping out of a lift. 🙄

Keep your faces expressionless at all times lest someone should feel unsafe because they know you’re having thoughts about them!

Ah but don't you know that women's feelings don't matter? We only exist to validate men and make men feel good. Therefore we should at all times ensure that our faces and body language are composed in such a way as to make men feel as valued and as awesome as humanly possible.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 01/07/2024 11:50

It's the new and improved version of 'Give us a smile, love'.

We owe men prettiness - of face and attitude - at all times, regardless of our own feelings.

CantDealwithChristmas · 01/07/2024 11:50

The lift set up is actually very realistic and true - just not in a way the makers of the advert think it is.

Woman gets off lift at last minute because she just remembered that she forgot her phone on her desk. Entitled trans identified male decides it must all be about him and goes into narc spiral.

Unfortunately the ad misses the bit where the dude goes to HR and whines and screeches until the woman is fired.

HoneyButterPopcorn · 01/07/2024 15:24

Can you imagine the case - as I’m sure we all have done - when someone is running for the lift and you go to press the ‘door open’ button and press the close one instead? That would cause the Spanish Inquisition…

duc748 · 01/07/2024 21:58

I posted Rachael's vid on an Aussie site I use. Jeez, the responses! First one,

why are you sharing an actual transphobes bullshit?

This from a site moderator. And there's a big banner across the top of the screen, Also, testosterone is not a dangerous drug, apparently.

Please be aware that the tolerance of anti-trans language on [redacted] is at an all-time low. Jokes and insults that are trans-related, as well as anti-trans and bigoted rhetoric will be met with infractions, threadbans etc as required. It's a sensitive (and important) topic, so behave like well-mannered adults when discussing it, PARTICULARLY when disagreeing. This equally applies across the whole site.

HoneyButterPopcorn · 01/07/2024 22:56

So you are allowed to make a joke about anything BUT trans?

duc748 · 01/07/2024 23:01

Obviously, I was tempted to say, I assume you apply the same rules to jokes about women, but really, I shouldn't be going there. No good will come from it!

Catsmere · 05/07/2024 08:41

That was great, @NotYourCisterinAus , thanks for posting!

HoneyButterPopcorn · 05/07/2024 10:15

Wonder if the make actor is trans?

duc748 · 05/07/2024 10:50

BTW that Aussie sight I mentioned upthread: I posted
"It hardly ever happens 🙄", and a link to shewon.

Happened to spot an email in my junk mail, and I've been give the banhammer for a week, and post deleted, for hate speech, and so on. It's a "serious .infraction", they called it. Speaking the truth, that is. And there's people on there banging on about that female boxer should have gone into the ring with a bloke. But that's all fine, it seems. I wouldn't want that climate coming to this country.

LilyBartsHatShop · 05/07/2024 12:41

I guess the encouraging thing to take from that,@duc748, is that they know the tightest reign has to be kept on what people can say in order to keep the house of cards from toppling. Maybe it's Berlin in 1987? We can hope???

duc748 · 05/07/2024 12:58

Oh, absolutely. But it's scary how many go along with it. Tbf, a few blokes (they will all be blokes, I think) were speaking up a bit in defence, but obviously you have to be very careful what you say.

NotYourCisterinAus · 07/07/2024 05:58

Another video, this time of Moira Deeming and Sally Grover discussing these ads.
From Nitter

The people who made them wanted them to be shared, but I'm not sure this is what they intended.

Poettree · 07/07/2024 06:51

Uggghhhhh how embarrassing of the Victorian government! I've been in that situation, alone in a space with a large trans woman, and I will never apologise for keeping myself safe and putting my feelings first and leaving the room without acknowledging them. He's a complete stranger. She is allowed to leave. Grow up TRAs.

HoldingTheDoor · 07/07/2024 07:42

I notice that they've now turned the comments off on Youtube for that advert due to the furious response from so many women. They really are determined to silence us.

Datun · 07/07/2024 07:52

As one (male) commentator says, a more normal reaction if you're getting a lift with a lone woman, would be make brief eye contact, move as far away from her as possible, and busy yourself on your phone.

That is, if you're in any way aware of the fact that women can feel uncomfortable or threatened by being alone with a man in a small, enclosed, soundproofed box, of course.

Not, walk in scowling at her, continue to stare, and stand within inches of her!

As if people needed reminding that the men who made that ad have absolutely no fucking clue about what it means to be a woman.

DeanElderberry · 07/07/2024 08:05

I'm not sure is it a false memory as I don't use lifts/elevators often, but aren't the control buttons usually inside the door on the right as you enter? So that the large male-bodied person is not just standing uncomfortably close to her, but also between her and any alarm or open doors button.

Helleofabore · 07/07/2024 08:21

Good to see the reaction spread. I did think that the Vic Government would have made a statement by now. But nothing.

DeanElderberry · 07/07/2024 09:52

I've just watched it again - yes, it shows Green-dress choosing to stand between Small-woman and the control panel.

Small-woman was absolutely right to get out, that was a potentially dangerous signal - the sort we have all been trained to take seriously from childhood on.

Datun · 07/07/2024 10:39

Plus, he doesn't bother to press any buttons. Just looks at her and stands right next to her, facing forward. He couldn't give off more vibes.

TW I know would give off much more placatory vibes. Make brief eye contact, smile, stand far away, hunch shoulders to minimise size. Whoever directed the video either doesn't know this or is being subtly subversive of the official message.

DeanElderberry · 07/07/2024 10:53

I did wonder whether some subversion had crept in - Green-dress looking so angry as well as standing in the most dodgy position, multiple standing female fellow-passengers in the tram (and the huge bag on the seat), the nose ring on the prospective football player - and the odd 'stranger turning up at my party' scene - very mixed messaging all round.

But yes, helping people pick up stuff that they've dropped is always a good thing.

Has anyone found out how much tax money got spent on this?

Maybe it's the difference between men who are AGP and some who are HSTS?

The entire TRA activism is characterised by aggression and hostility, it's not a leap to imagine they simply don't see it in themselves.

Or more accurately, don't understand how it comes across to anyone else. Maybe the people directing that transwoman simply don't recognise the entitlement he emanates, because to them it looks completely normal.
