Kate Forbes backs JK Rowling in Labour row over women's rights

The Deputy leader of Scotland
Asked on Tuesday whether she had changed her mind about Rowling, Ms Forbes said: “Obviously, I think that anybody who takes a principled stance is brave in that regard, and I think that we need to have open discussions on these issues.”

Forbes accuse Labour of being confused on the issue. Interesting considering the SNP's position as the article makes clear.

It's not a great surprise given her religious views is it?

Tell that to the Archbishop of Canterbury 😀

I couldn't give a fig about Kate Forbes' opinion on anything.

The woman is a hypocrite of the highest order. Despite her much flaunted integrity she was happy to toe the party line and abstain on the vote to suspend Michael Matheson for his false expenses claim.

She's recently been speaking the most utter drivel about the Scottish Government's failure to use around £450 million EU funds which will have to be handed back. This failure is of course nothing to do with the SNP ministers.

Sure. And the Freeports patter is also shortsighted when the SNP are still claiming that a (more) hypothetical (every day) independent Scotland would join the EU.

However, Kate Forbes doesn't have to be a genius or great statesperson or conform to random internetter-approved religious views in order to be correct, and stating the obvious on this matter. The more politicians who aren't afraid to say that women are allowed to talk and use their own words without threats of rape and murder and economic devastation, the better. The question shouldn't be why Forbes said this, but rather why the fuck every politician isn't able to say it.
