Telegraph article.

It’s summer, get outside those [pay]walls

(The Telegraph seems to have done some editing of the page literally as I was posting as the original link now has a headline about Labour inviting JKR to talk to them. Despite the hyperlink text remaining the same…)

I heard that earlier on.

She won't be the only one.

lcakethereforeIam · 24/06/2024 17:44

I'd read this. She must feel so sad and angry. Flowers to her and the other women, former members, supporters and voters, it's not you, it's labour.

EasternStandard · 24/06/2024 17:54

She wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “That’s me done. I wrote to Keir Starmer and spoke to him in person. I warned him about misogyny. He never replied.

“Labour has betrayed women with a raft of policies designed to appease trans-identified men. I don’t suppose Starmer cares, but I’ve resigned my membership today.”

A committed feminist, Ms Smith has also written non-fiction books such as Misogynies and Home Grown: How Domestic Violence Turns Men Into Terrorists.

Good on her. She’s right

Sir Keir Starmer has finally woken up on transgender debate – biological sex is what matters

Labour leader embracing common-sense approach buries fallacy that pushing back against trans ideology in sport is a right-wing crusade

I've been following Joan for a while on Twix, watching her mood darken, taking longer and longer walks and posting photos of birds. I really feel for her.

That's the woman who literally wrote the book on misogyny you've driven away, Labour.

I don't think they have any idea of how much damage they have done, not a clue.

I think they know, they just don't care. They're courting a younger demographic who are spending half their lives online and losing their capacity to cope with other viewpoints and biological reality.

Toseland · 24/06/2024 18:04

We've been fighting to be heard by Labour for many many years. She's right, it's time to go.

AmelieTaylor · 24/06/2024 18:13

How best to alert the younger voters to this?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 24/06/2024 18:14

I feel so sorry for all the women who've stayed in Labour, keeping the faith despite being harassed, accused, isolated and dismissed. Ignoring what women all know - "when someone shows you who they really are, believe them the first time".

Safeguarding children and protecting women's rights come a poor second to obeying the demands of a toxic male led ideology embedding lies and fantasies in society. It won't end well - we all know that.

From Joan Smith's twix account today.

Floisme · 24/06/2024 18:14

We can't (in my opinion). We just have to wait for them to grow up and wise up.

Floisme · 24/06/2024 18:15

Sorry big cross it's

Floisme · 24/06/2024 18:16

God Dammit where's my edit function gone?

That should have said, 'Sorry for cross post.'

If this is wrong too I give up.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 24/06/2024 18:28

'Labour said it was "the party of women’s equality, with a manifesto that puts women front and centre".'

😂but also😢
