Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Words are losing all meaning. It's not that long ago that transactivists said that while they wanted trans-identified males to be called transwomen (and then shifted the goalposts and insisted on trans women instead), and trans-identified females to be transmen (and then trans men), the words male and female would carry on meaning what they had always meant. Not any more. Here we have a transwoman who in classic style has transitioned in middle age after a career in a male-dominated field and who is now described as female.

NotTerfNorCis · 24/06/2024 10:29

It's confusing, isn't it. Female is a biological term. Transwomen aren't female by definition.

SerendipityJane · 24/06/2024 10:36

Sandi Toskvig has let herself go.

WickedSerious · 24/06/2024 10:50

'Openly trans'?

In what way would it be possible for him to be secretly trans?

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 24/06/2024 10:52

@WickedSerious

🤢 don’t let’s go there…..

Looks like Kaz, however they identify, is unsuitable for a life in public office but has the cloak of invisibility imbued by trans status.

Thanks for that. Oddly, I'd seen it earlier on a whole thread of similar tweet exchanges where a TRA has said similar and been shown up.

More crap journalism. Guess the sex of the 'first female councillor' in this story.

It's ridiculous. I'd long lost all patience with the idea of using 'woman' to mean some kind of wibbly-wobbly social gender role so I'm not giving up 'female' either.

FrancescaContini · 24/06/2024 14:33

“Steps towards equality”? Don’t make me laugh, Kaz.

Other trans councillors have been elected while still presenting as their birth sex. Remember if you are trans you were trans from the moment of conception, no matter how long you were in the closet.

This is the link to the thread of similar exchanges. That one with Ross Tucker is first. https://x.com/fem_mb/status/1804809291083202754

MrsOvertonsWindow · 24/06/2024 14:49

So that's the potty mouthed tra who told the much respected Ross Tucker (sports scientist, advocate for science, data, fairness and women's sport) to STFU?

What a role model 🙄

Edited

I do wonder what is so special about Kaz that a bunch of virtue signalling idiots thought that Kaz would make an idea Councillor

JaninaDuszejko · 24/06/2024 14:55

Notwithstanding the use of the word female, it's pretty clear from the newspaper report what the biological sex of this person is and if you are really confused you can watch the video at the end to confirm what we all know. The journalists who stick to the newspeak while making clear what reality is are doing a great job.

Well they do say something about donkeys, red rosettes and voting.

There is no limit to the number of times I can laugh at that Ross Tucker slam dunk, it's glorious.

You're not wrong there.

'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean–neither more nor less.'

And I feel that quoting "Humpty Dumpty" is pretty apt.

Well I'll be!!!

This person is obviously reading and monitoring this board!

So I'll say again. I'm happy for you to get the accolade of first trans women councillor.

But not any other.
