Paris Paloma - Labour (caophony)

Just heard this on Radio 1 and it’s an amazing, anger-filled feminist anthem!

Link to the video below, but these lyrics are what caught my attention:

“The capillaries in my eyes are bursting
If our love died, would that be the worst thing?

For somebody I thought was my saviour
You sure make me do a whole lot of labour

The calloused skin on my hands is cracking
If our love ends, would that be a bad thing?

And the silence haunts our bed chamber
You make me do too much labour

All day, every day, therapist, mother, maid
Nymph then a virgin, nurse then a servant
Just an appendage, live to attend him
So that he never lifts a finger
24∕7, baby machine

So he can live out his picket fence dreams

It's not an act of love if you make her
You make me do too much labour”

I’ve never heard of this artist so I’m going to see if her other music is as good. Just wanted to share with like-minded women!

Apologies, I hadn’t had time to dig deeper. I don’t understand how there can be such a disconnect about what the song is so clearly about, and then not understand what a woman is. So disappointing.

I read the Manningtree Witches by A. K. Blakemore, who both cites Silvia Federici as a massive influence & elsewhere declares TWAW. Similar disconnect (or she didn't actually read Federici)

That's someone else's tweet though, is there direct evidence that Paris Paloma is "TWAW"?

It's an amazing song OP, thanks for sharing!

This is from her official TikTok. The text isn't super clear but basically says it shouldn't be used to push a cis, white, feminist exclusionary agenda.

Nice bit of policing the "right kind of feminism" there from Paris.

The lyrics of 'Labour' must really resonate with all those TWs shouldering domestic chores, caring responsibilities, pregnancies and life admin burdens...

Kim Woodburn's let herself go

(Actually I'm getting Saville vibes)

(This isn't going to stay here is it)

It's from the interview Hayton did where he admitted his wife still shoulders all the domestic drudgery. Because when you LARP as a woman, heaven forfend you actually do the shit bits of womanhood.

Toseland · 19/06/2024 16:23

Was that the interview where he made his wife wear his high heels?!

I'll give it five mins! 😂

Is she thick? TW don't perform the unpaid labour that's expected of women. They haven't been socialised to and whether they're in straight or gay relationships they're never on the lower side of the power hierarchy.

I feel as though she's using feminism yet doesn't want to be associated with actual feminists because we make males cross. And using women in Gaza to virtue signal. Luckily for her those women are unlikely to be able to voice their opposition to her luxury beliefs so she can crack on I guess.

CorruptedCauldron · 19/06/2024 17:09

I suspect Paris is aware that she/they has written a song that is basically Terfy - otherwise why would she/they say please don’t use this song to exclude transwomen? She knows darn well those lyrics are about the female experience.

sellotapechicken · 13/03/2025 06:04

It’s a really powerful song

I'm on TikTok for entertainment. I've seen her TikToks and yes, she declares TWAW

Surf2Live · 13/03/2025 06:12

it's a powerful song, yeah, but it's incredibly disappointing that Paris fails to see the incoherency of gender ideology

she's young and privileged, having been educated in a time when queer theory has infected education at all levels from pre school to post graduate

another thing that seems to have changed with proliferation of the internet and queer theory, is a lack of critical thinking

saw this on X recently and it so resonates:

"Teaching ethics to undergrads in 2025 is bizarre, because:
(1) They insist morality is entirely relative and culturally constructed...
(2) ...while simultaneously holding unshakeable ethical convictions and viewing disagreement as moral monstrosity."

ScrapeMyArse · 13/03/2025 09:31

OP, completely off topic, I've just noticed your excellent username.... Is it a reference to the song or the radio show the line was nicked from?

Hundolt · 13/03/2025 11:49

Oh Paris - how you deceive yourself. Yeah sure it’s just as relevant to transwomen too.

But why no leaping to the defence of transmen too? It’s perfectly relevant to those transmen who give birth alongside their trans identifying partners and suddenly, surprise, surprise, get lumbered with all the labour of childcare too - it’s almost as if they’re still getting all the ‘women’ shit even though they’re men - outrageous! (cf ‘Logan’ ‘author’ of ‘In My Daddy’s Belly’ who has just come out as a single parent and looks suspiciously like they have soaked up all the boring, stereotypically ‘female’ duties of any other single mum with a feckless male partner - except they call themselves, and have their child call them, Daddy - which is a shame because they genuinely look like they’re being a fantastic mother)

There’s also Zoey Allen who ‘wrote’ ‘My Momma Zo’ about coming out as a transwoman to their wife and 2 young children - and how wonderful it is for their children to have the benefit of having two, loving Mummies instead of just one! Now divorced and hasn’t seen their kids since the book came out.

Why the need to constantly spring to the defence of men? I’d call that the very epitome of the Patriarchy, Paris.

popefully · 13/03/2025 11:52

She excludes trans men from this, then.
How non-inclusive.

WarriorN · 13/03/2025 12:04

🤣😆😂 at that inclusive mashup ✅✅✅

Scout2016 · 13/03/2025 16:14

@BackToLurk at risk of derail, I got stuck with Manningtree Witches. Is it worth persevering with?
