Came across this article in UnHerd and thought it might be of interest to FWR. It’s discussing a recent article published in Nature magazine (I shouldn’t be but I’m still shocked that genderwoo nonsense gets published by Nature and Scientific American and New Scientist etc).

Some excerpts:

'Anyone who’s been paying attention to queer politics will have noticed that activist language never stands still but constantly marches Leftward….

So it may seem strange that a hallowed word like “transgender” may be showing early signs of turning musty and stale, a liberatory locution morphing into its oppressive opposite, not unlike its discredited predecessor, “transsexual.”…

It’s hard to think of a realm other than social justice activism where vocabulary is constantly undergoing a makeover. The issue here is not that language gradually changes and evolves, but that the changes are imposed from the top by ideological gatekeepers and enforced by diktat…

The ever-expanding lexicon of social justice words that have been redefined, expanded or inverted has been widely remarked upon, so that sometimes seems as though social justice activism is a branch of lexicography. Let a few examples suffice: harm (mild discomfort), trauma (moderate discomfort), white supremacy (Western, European, American), racism (indifferent to activism and allyship), violence (speech), and, most notably: woman (?).'

'Transgender' is falling out of fashion with activists

Anyone who’s been paying attention to queer politics will have noticed that activist language never stands still but constantly marches Leftward. Words like “homosexuality” and “gay” have either been written out of the lexicon or redefined in ways that...

I read this, I was sucked in by the headline. I hoped it would be about activists moving on to something, not necessarily better, but something different. That gender has had its day. Unfortunately, they're going further down the gender navel. 😕 At least according to Nature, ffs.

The only way to stop a purity spiral is by active intervention.

Same here, the title is definitely click bait.

It’s like these activists are recreating old-style sexism (even strengthening it in some ways) but calling it liberation from sexism and thinking that a name change is dismantling the old problems. It’s mind-boggling to me that they can’t understand this fact.

Disappointed to read it is just the word and not the concept.

Hmmm Windscale/Sellafield. You may be onto something.

Ideological gatekeepers is a chilling phrase.

Couldn’t agree more.

That’s an excellent example.

I think that Gender Ideology entrenches and adheres to sexist stereotypes even more strongly than the societal sexism I experienced growing up. It favours men’s wants and desires even more so than old-school sexism.

I’m so disappointed to see young girls/women embracing it in hopes of freedom from sexism when in fact they’re getting an even worse deal than women of the past who could at least create things for themselves, for their own benefit, and nowadays men are claiming a right to those very things.

This is so true. I thought we’d thrown out the old sex stereotypes for good in the 1970s. Now the genderists are not only reviving but reinforcing them. And backed by real loathing for women.
