The mystery continues. Will it be Brighton, Birmingham, Bristol or none of the above?

I doubt I am. I don't enjoy watching women tearing each other apart for "wrongthink"

I think we're all going to enjoy KJK campaigning against Carla. Enjoyed that video, thanks cariadlet

Yes, she's got Nish's number too Grin

This is a bit of a cliche - looked after children were over represented in referrals to GIDS and Blackpool had one of the highest referral rates in the country. Trans ID isn’t just a middle class thing, those are just the people who get into the media.

I’m not sure that looked after children can tell us much about the socioeconomic class of children who are identifying as transgender. Looked after children are outside of what might be considered to be a normal family environment. Thrown into frequent contact with social services and other support services: Social workers, school therapists, mental health services, foster families, care home environments, police etc. And we know how in thrall to GII all these services can be.

Yet here you are, doing it from your side of the fence!

😂

Exactly. As I said, it should be ringing huge alarm bells that it's that specific group of very vulnerable children who are overrepresented.

I think its refreshing to see a young woman like Denyer in politics, and find it fascinating that KJK has chosen to stand in a constituency where the debate will be between women, rather than involving any influential men.

The optics are that this is a female concern and men don't need to/shouldn't be involved. It's quite damaging to women and quite patriarchal.

She does it of course because she knows she will get more clicks from the straight white men because she's not threatening their position. It's anti-feminist in my opinion.

Also me politely challenging others ideas and presenting alternative views, on a discussion forum, is in no way equivalent.

Hmm. Righto. Your lecturing isn't anything like that, OK.

notsofantastic · 12/06/2024 12:06

Hope KJK ends up helping Thangam Debbonaire. Ideally would like to see both in the HofC.

Stop being rude please. "Lecturing" isn't attacking which is what you originally said.

I'm not being rude, just sarcastic.

You're lecturing and condescending to women on here, attacking them for being rationalists, yet you seem to think that people on the opposite side to you are doing the "ripping apart." You can't see that that's exactly what you're doing.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/06/2024 12:23

Often when people do this, it's not because they don't see what they are doing.

I might come across as patronising, that's because I'm (trying to be) clear and polite rather than aggressively trying to "win".

KJK on her latest video is mocking CD and ridiculing her sexuality. That is "ripping someone apart".

That approach obviously works for a lot of people but I find it very unpleasant and off-putting. It detracts from any reasonable points and I think is ultimately counter productive because it only plays well with the already converted.

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 12/06/2024 14:45

She's not ridiculing her sexuality, she's pointing out the mismatch in CD's belief that NB people exist in conjunction with saying she's 'bisexual' which acknowledges there are two sexes only. As she states, 'pansexual' is the recognised turn of phrase for GI believers, as in they look at the person, not the sex / gender. Bisexual very clearly limits it to the two sexes, which rules NBs out.

Once again, misrepresenting KJK. It's getting predictably dull now, frankly.

Maybe you should talk to someone who believes both things.
Bisexuals are not attracted to transgender people.
Pansexuals are attracted to all people.
And that appears to be the accepted terminology in LGBTQIA circles.

I think its pretty gross to ridicule someone for saying they are bisexual. It's moved out of "shining a light on GC issues" and into something else.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/06/2024 15:13

Bisexuals are not attracted to transgender people.

You're aware that TRAs would label that position transphobic? Excluding transpeople from your dating pool is a BIG no no.

Not as much of an ally as she'd like, it seems. Which is, again, an inconsistent position for her to take.

CassieMaddox · 12/06/2024 15:15

No they wouldn't. Because I know some fully signed up trans allies who are bisexual.

What Riley Dennis said 10 years ago isn't reflective of most trans people and their allies today. The world moves on.

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 12/06/2024 15:19

Many TRAs on TwiX wouldn't agree with you.

CassieMaddox · 12/06/2024 15:28

I'm sure many don't agree with CD. So let's make sure a woman in politics gets attacked from all sides for stating a belief. Lovely.

"Bisexuals are not attracted to transgender people."

Since when is that a core part of the definition of bisexual? Seeing as being transgender might only mean dressing, presenting, in specific ways, why would that affect fundamental sexual attraction? I mean, it might, on a case-by-case basis, but it's not a defining aspect of bisexuality, which can only mean being sexually attracted to both male and female adult humans. Speaking as a bisexual!

Bisexuals are not attracted to transgender people.

I didn't know that was allowed at all. Is it ok then for lesbians to exclude transwomen from people they can say they are attracted to?

I'm talking clearly about how I hear trans allies I know define themselves as bi rather than pan.
Personally I'm entirely uninterested in any sexuality label so I'm not the right person to ask about it.

My main point is I don't understand why KJK is ridiculing CD's description of her own sexuality. It's a bit bizarre. But then I generally find KJK to be self congratulatory, arrogant and highly critical of anyone she doesn't agree with, so I guess I would say that.

What do you mean by this? What do you find 'refreshing' about her? (She's 38 so I assume you're not suggesting that she's particularly young for an MP.)
