At Let Women Speak we foster a community in which all women feel empowered to speak. We achieve this through our free speech events, they are free to attend. We are so proud that women across the world are using the #LetWomenSpeak hashtag as a rallying cry.

All Let Women Speak events are held in outdoor public places. Places are chosen so that they are as accessible as possible and not far from public transport.

There are no tickets, anyone can turn up, and anyone can speak (but we ask that men wait until the end). You can speak about whatever you like, these are free speech events.

As always, it is completely free to come to our Let Women Speak events, and no one will ask to see a ticket! However, at Let Women Speak we are very lucky to have an extraordinary team of stewards who give up their free time to enable women to speak. They are all volunteers, but we need to ensure that they’re not out of pocket. Each UK event needs a £2000 steward and security fund to make it possible. On reddit 'let women speak' is being painted as a bunch of nazis. That's how the counter protesters will be viewing those in attendance. They will have it in their heads that you are nazis. They believe it 100%.

What's a £2000 steward?

I read it a £2000 steward-and-security-fund. Per event. To pay all the volunteers’ expenses for the day - training, high viz, travel, etc presumably.

However, at Let Women Speak we are very lucky to have an extraordinary team of stewards who give up their free time to enable women to speak

Can all women speak on topics and if they do can they disagree with you in their opinions?

This happens in every city that LWS events are held. TRAs try to whip up opposition with fake news.

But because on a couple of occassions police failed to protect women, most police forces now make more of an effort.

Usually the worse thing is, is that the TRAs always have a really loud PA system and try to drown out women's voices with their noise.

Yes that is the very reason for the events.

Although it is assumed the events are mainly speakers about women's sex based rights, some women have spoken about issues that they feel are important for them as a woman, eg child safe guarding.

A poster on another thread (sorry, I've searched with several key words but can't find it) posted a flyer her son had been given at uni about the counter-gathering, including 'warning' people that if they don't arrive early, they may have to share the public loos with LWS protesters, shock horror.

The implication being that the LWS women nazi thugs are too dangerous to risk being in an enclosed space with them, or that men can expect to be challenged by LWS women nazi thugs if they use the women's toilets.

Sounds silly when written down like that, but it's this kind of ramping up of the alleged 'threat' from GC women that allows TRAs to justify their violence against us. Justifiable resistance to oppression and all that...

On that reddit thread they are posting a link to posieisafascist.com which is full of misinformation. There is a picture of a barbie wearing a swazsticker that they are saying she used as a profile picture. It is fake and photoshopped.

There is also a clip where she says ''Fascism is the new word for legend''. This is framed to make her look like a nazi when she's actually saying it in response to people chanting ''Posie Parker is a fascist'' in the background. She's making a joke, albeit a careless one that has been weaponised.

They are saying she marches with nazis when she doesn't. They gatecrashed her event, she didn't invite them.

This is so dangerous. It's painting the people attending her rally as nazis when they are not. There is a youtube video with over a million views also repeating these lies. There's going to be all these people at the counter protest that are enraged at her and falsely think she and the people there are nazis. It takes one of these people to lose the plot and attack someone based on lies to maybe seriously hurt someone.

I was banned from that thread so am unable to post in it how this is all fake. If someone else can feel free to.

That was her profile pic on Spinster a few years back, it's not fake but they're taking it out of context, she was taking the piss out of people calling her "fascist Barbie".

Oh really? I couldn't find it in any news articles anywhere, aside from one from pinknews where they worded it ''She has been accused of using a barbie profile pic'' rather than ''she has used a barbie profile pic''. It's the kind of thing you would expect to see in news articles everywhere if it were solidly true and I can find nothing except the pinknews article. On twitter I found people saying it had been photoshopped.

WPUK co-founder Ruth Serwotka called Keen a “domesticated zombie” and another leftist feminist called Keen a “Nazi Barbie,” a slur which made its way over to the Australian Parliament. The language employed by these women is important because amidst the hoards clamouring for a piece of Keen’s life were signs which often reflected these defamatory remarks made over the years. The arguments quickly moved from Keen being a collaborator with the far-right to simple claims that she was no feminist, an identity Keen has always avoided. Scottish writer, Claire Heuchan wrote in 2020, “I’d choose standing by a steaming pile of dogshit over getting anywhere near Posie Parker” and that same year called Keen a “White Supremacist Barbie.” Heuchan is now a trustee of FiLiA which has yet to put out a single statement about the violence enacted against Keen and others last week.

It's not great to see this. You should learn more about the speakers at protest 2. They are anti immigration, I would say in fact racist, as well as climate change denying & covid conspiracy theorists.

Here is one of the uea protest speakers with Tommy Robinson. It's terrifying that people here think Tommy Robinsons group stand up for women. He's a convicted criminal including for stalking a woman & when police intervened in a domestic with him and his then girlfriend he assaulted them & has convictions from that incident too. That's besides the actual fascism.

Hmmm yes I got that vibe from their website. My fear is a repeat of the 'oh look LWS is supported by transphobic nazis' thing again.
Obviously there's nothing LWS can do about it, but it's important to put on record at this stage, before the LWS gathering starts, that Students Against Tyranny are not invited and not welcome if they're looking for trouble.

I'm not speaking for LWS here - well actually I am! they aren't an organisation with spokespeople, so I'm volunteering to put on record that LWS didn't invite Students Against Tyranny and don't want any trouble.

on this pro LMS thread people have now expressed support for a SAT event. This all helps to legitimise SAT and all their causes. People need to exercise more caution. Someone or some group agreeing with you on LWS matters doesn't mean you should blindly advertise them & signal for support for them. It's really terrifying to see these groups getting legitimised especially if you're a black woman or a lesbian woman etc.

Let's hope it is better policed than the Liverpool event last September...where the TRAS ( and passing Labour delegates and union officials on their way to the conference hall) were allowed to press right up against the barriers the women had been caged in...screaming " Nazi" and "Fascist" at us for two hours......it was awful.
