I followed and re-tweeted GC accounts, acquired 200+ followers and now I'm suspended

I have appealed, but I'm not holding out any hope

Looks like I'm going to have to generate another email account to get on again

I thought Elon put a stop to that nonsense.

Did you say anything that sounded even vaguely like a threat or violence? I don’t mean that was genuinely threatening, but I saw someone else was kicked off for some jokey post that had been reported as if serious.

Much as Musk says GC women are welcome, he must have lots of the same staff who were so keen to kick us all off before, and they will inevitably be trigger happy, given even the slightest excuse.

Alternative as Xtwitter is one of the bottom 4 social media platforms in terms of number of users, might be worth switching to one of the 11 platforms that has many more and possibly wider range of users!

I can't see my own profile, can't search for news or trending and can't see any posts

There were no warnings and no requests to take down any controversial tweets or retweets

And yes, I tried subscribing and got nowhere...

If you go back you might want to block certain accounts, some of them spend all day reporting GC accounts. I don't know if I can track any names.

X seems to be as ever thus.

The "other side" as it were, the people determined to uphold a completely unscientific, unethical and unbelievable ideology, seem to be those determined to repeatedly click report, report, report, report for anyone against the ideology.

There are bots created specifically to report and accuse GC people of "hate speech" or "violent speech" when people are basically saying something totally normal.

The bots end up winning because it's too much effort for the platform to actually analyse the reports.

GC people don't make bots to attack gender ideologists. We just can't be bothered. It's all a completely one sided situation.

How long before joining and following a load of accounts?

I found that if you joined and followed loads of accounts, it auto suspended you. I only managed to stay on by liking one or two, and then adding them in small numbers over a very long time.

@AlisonDonut, yes, that's right, you can't follow too many people at once and you can only follow a certain number without having followers yourself

How did you manage to get banned from Elon Musk's Twitter? I don't waste my time making reports anymore unless it's a direct or heavily implied threat of violenc, nothing else seems to be against the rules anymore.

Anytime a GC account with a lot of followers like libsoftiktok or JK Rowling posts about a trans woman the replies are full of people posting pictures of woodchippers or GIFs of guns being loaded. At least they get perma-banned after being reported to both Twitter and the other option for the EU law.

Signing up again after being banned is against the rules, but it's owned by Elon Musk so I guess noone cares.

And half the users Twitter does have are probably bots or onlyfan spammer accounts!

Most of these aren't actually viable alternatives to Twitter, are they? They're completely different services which just happen to be lumped under the "social media" umbrella.

Twitter has its faults but you can’t publicly speak with politicians, journalists, etc, on any other platform. It’s unique. That’s why it’s so dangerous for it to be captured by ideologues who hate free speech, democracy, etc.

That's what I thinking. It is the most popular place to offer opportunities for strangers to exchange thoughts and ideas. It's not perfect and it never was. Humans are too messy for that.

I'd be careful about doing that. They'll see it as ban evasion and they could eventually block you by IP. I know because it happened to me when Parag Agrawal owned it as Twitter.

I keep my twitter 'clean' which I like partly because I don't get banned but also because I can read what the TRAs are saying without getting blocked. I recommend it. I don't think retweeting people is activism so I don't worry about not doing that.

As you've probably been flagged for bot like behaviour.

Twitter isn't itself important.

It is only significant because lazy journalists use it to stoke up sensational stories.

It servces no purpose in itself because it has so few users.

Only talking to the same people every day isn't really outreach or making connections. But like any platform has much more to do with the type of people you want to engage with.

Its just the illusion that its important because of how MSM manipulates what is happening there.

Its a bit like a local paper not bothering to find out what is happening in the region, but just going to some dodgy back street drinking hole, and then writing up 3 drunks having an arguement as a major news story.

Just wanted to say - this has happened to me too! Last night, I was refreshing a page (ahem, a search on the phrase 'Michael Mosley', as I'm worried about him) and a notice flashed up saying my account was permanently suspended, with no concrete reason given. Just a range of possible reasons - I'm posting spam, I'm a bot, I've been abusive, I've been hacked... I have no way of knowing if I've been hacked or not, I did tell a rightwing bigot (Tommy Robinson type) to sod off the other day, I retweet 'gender critical' posts and follow a lot of the usual GC suspects ... It could be random reasons or a mistake but maybe I've been deemed toxic and denounced by a Child of the Revolution or something.

I'm pissed off though - I think it's 99% a cesspit but I do still value being able to see politics being discussed, and there are some personalities I follow (mostly comedians) who amuse me. And sometimes I just want to see what people are saying about breaking events.

Amusingly, Radio 4 are having their 'Kafka v. Orwell' day today and I filed my appeal to a background of a discussion of Kafka's The Trial.

(I felt, as well as the indignation and an undertone of Guilt ('I must have done SOMETHING'), a distinct sense of relief at being booted off. Maybe I should listen to that relief, but I did file an appeal report just now.)
