Dr Hamilton is doing a seminar on trans sports where their research in this area is being discussed, which I will possibly attend through work. Looked 'them' up and read possibly the most unprofessional academic bio

Thankfully news of the webinar led to a good discussion in office about women's sports being for women ( and not muscling onto the women's football team Dr H)

Goalkeeper Blair Hamilton interviewed here.

Goalkeeper Blair Hamilton plays for fifth-tier Saltdean United Women, while Natalie Washington is at Rushmoor in tier six; they’re probably the most high-profile trans women players in English football; on a special FvT Pod for the Week of Action, they discuss welcoming cultures, spikes in anti-trans reporting stats, and more…

Cripes, it looks as though it was written by a puppy-like 14 year old. Is them the one which was doing the Emily Bridges "study"?

They're certainly not shy of using an exclamation mark or two.

The Bridges study was J. Harper at Loughborough.

Hamilton's was released recently and it was noted that they compared mediocre fitness level male athletes with elite level fitness female athletes. The sports scientists were very clear in looking at the data that the two groups were certainly not like for like. Yet.... that study has been well received by some.

The people who wanted it to say that men aren't stronger than women once they've said the magic words?

I'll need to see what the spin is on the paper. Not hopeful. Although if it is obviously awful, it might peak some people.

That academic bio contains the word 'delve' which is currently a signature for text generated by ChatGPT rather than a human. Not a perfect signature but makes it likely

Rightsraptor · 23/05/2024 22:23

It also contains American English spelling (honors, unraveling) - is that a possible indicator of ChatGPT?

ghislaine · 23/05/2024 22:54

Anyone in my department who produced that embarrassing piece of self-aggrandisement would never live it down. I’m feeling secondhand embarrassment for Blair after reading that.

Well I have learned something today. That the US spells unravelling with one ‘l’!

Rightsraptor · 23/05/2024 23:07

Yes, it's standard in American English to just write a single 'l', whereas British English uses double 'll' - so traveling/travelling etc.

Why, I have no idea.

Ah, thanks. It seems that this one is another loaded with, with preconceptions aimed at getting they's desired result.

Helleofabore · 24/05/2024 09:21

Yes, Sinner, it is another. It is incredible that someone is funding these flawed studies. Although, Harper’s was funded by the IOC no less!!

Creep. Entitled creep.
