Defence Lawyer Fined Over His Questioning Of Rape Survivor

Naturally, the most he’s done is a “I’m sorry if you were [completely unreasonably] upset [by my actions which were totally fine ffs]”. Because who hasn’t decided to randomly accuse a rape victim of having narcissistic personality disorder?

As Ms Wilson (the rape victim in question said) he “seems more concerned with the damage to his reputation rather than the harm he’s caused.”

I don’t understand why the judge didn’t pull him up on his behaviour and line of questioning during the trial.

His accusations are admissions. Confirmed by the concern for his precious reputation.

This is a very brave woman, and I'm glad she's had a measure of justice. Not much though, and it doesn't seem to have had much effect on the arrogant defence lawyer.
Rape survivor secretly recorded her abuser's confession (bbc.com)

The Scottish government acknowledge the complaints process is complex and dated and are considering a bill to enact change. Well I think we know women are not a priority for them so don’t hold your breath.
If it was a trans person who had been raped and then spoken to like this in court this disgusting barrister would be facing a huge campaign against him but as this is just another woman facing misogyny very few people will even raise an eyebrow.

Incredibly brave @MarieDeGournay - it’s boggling (but sadly somehow not surprising at the same time) that she had his confession & some of the jury still fell for “why would a nice lad like that rape someone?” 😡 What, he just admitted it - gloated about it, even, for the craic?!

She was interviewed on Radio 4 WATO.

Not only has she been incredibily brave, but this has taken 2 years at least to be dealt with. And it has taken so long, she is now having to move away from friends and family as her rapist could be released within months.

What was strange about the interview though was that the name of the lawyer was never mentioned.

Why?

He should be clearly identified and hopefully not get any future work.
