Would you complain about this?

I received a marketing email from a shoes/accessories brand today which included the attached image. Personally I find this offensive as there’s more than a suggestion of breast binding which I believe is harmful and destructive particularly to young women and girls. I am going to complain about but am interested in others thoughts, am I overreacting?

It's fucking grim. Not just because of binding, but because of the porny connotations.

This is a BDSM image. Is it only going to be seen by adults, or is there a risk teens/children see it? Suitable for a porn site where consenting adults only will see it; not suitable for general viewing. Which company is it?

That wouldn't ever suggest breast binding by adolescent girls to me, but it would suggest pornography and the normalisation of BSDM in an incredibly inappropriate context. I'd ask them what the hell they thought they were doing sending out obscene and misogynist material to non-consenting customers. And if they couldn't imagine writing to cold leads asking for consent to send images promoting submissive leather fetishism, why on earth they thought they could send them WITHOUT consent. Fucking eejits.

I’m so naive! I agree it’s inappropriate so will complain but not hopeful of any meaningful response. I’ll report back.

Do the firm sell bdsm gear? If not then that picture is entirely inappropriate and I would not be happy to receive their porn, unsolicited, in the post! I would contact them and tell them to remove me from their mailing list, with my reasons.

Yes, I agree to complaining to Advertising Standards. I would assume Germany has something similar too.
