So delighted to hear this. I wonder if a certain Sport England employee is having a tantrum. 🤭

Somebody who may have attracted the sort of attention that brings organisations into disrepute? The sort of someone who practises what Suzanne Moore so pithily described as Banal McCarthyism?

Helleofabore · 05/05/2024 11:18

That is great news! And remarkable to think that ‘someone’ will also have caused greater scrutiny of stonewall’s influence on Sports England.

Ofcourseshecan · 05/05/2024 11:22

Good news. Well done, Sport England.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 05/05/2024 11:24

It's a small step. But while they still employ those who target women for wrong speak and are opposed to women's rights to same sex sport, they've got a way to go.

RethinkingLife · 05/05/2024 11:29

To be clear, I think all of these organisations will seize the chance to re-affiliate with Stonewall when there's a change in government.

In the brief interim, I would like some notable organisations to acknowledge and implement some training on freedom of thought etc. and actual tolerance for different perspectives and opinions.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 05/05/2024 11:30

That’s great but I think what we’ve seen with those organisations leaving the stonewall scheme is that they just go onto employ orgs global butterflies or the diversity trust instead

Agreed, same material, ideology and compelled speech and thought, different clothes presenting it.

Interested to read this in the article:

'In 2021, the Sports Council Equality Group published its transgender inclusion guidance for governing bodies, making clear that balancing transgender inclusion, safety and fairness where sex can have an impact on a result, is not always possible.

The report concluded that there could be no 'one size fits all' approach across sport, and that ruling bodies define the best options for their sport.'

Link to the report. https://www.sportengland.org/new-guidance-transgender-inclusion-domestic-sport-published which published nine documents.

The nine documents being published today are:

  • Guidance for Transgender Inclusion in Domestic Sport 2021
  • Frequently Asked Questions
  • Guidance for Transgender Inclusion in Domestic Sport 2021 – Summary of Background Documents
  • Transgender International Research Literature Review 2021
  • Transgender International Policy Review 2021
  • Summary of the Gender Recognition Act 2004
  • Summary of the Equality Act 2010
  • Equality Impact Assessment on the Guidance for Transgender Inclusion in Domestic Sport 2021
  • Project Report on the Review of the Guidance for Transgender Inclusion in Domestic Sport 2021

Not read any of these. But

The guidance is accompanied by a series of supporting documents and is the result of extensive research and consultation.

This is a very good example of how the tactics laid out in the Denton's report have been carried out. Wedge activists into positions of influence in sporting organisations, drown the organisation with "policy" enshrining all sorts of anti science, flat earthism nonsense and then stand back and watch while sporting bodies founded on fundamental biological principles beclown themselves as they insist that "inclusion & diversity" matter more than sporting excellence, fairness, honesty and integrity.

Rinse and repeat in the NHS, schools etc.

RhymesWithOrange · 05/05/2024 18:35

Finally…!

I would have loved to have been in that Board meeting.

GrimbutGerbil · 05/05/2024 18:50

If I am remembering rightly, the head of EDI at Sport England is/was the person who reported Rachel Meade. (and from a look at that person's LinkedIn profile seemed to have very little experience other than that particular piece of fuckwittery).

On a more cheerful note, this Twitter thread, in which they used sex instead of gender and got their arses handed to them on a plate, is always pleasing.

Yes, Aedan Wolton is the strategic lead at Sport England and plausible contender for placing high in the league of Banal McCarthyites (admittedly, a crowd of contenders).

To be fair, SWE may yet decide that they really still align with AW's perspective so AW may yet emerge as heroic advocate for extirpating wrong think from the profession.

Sharron Davies backs call to fire Sport England's diversity chief

Olympic swimming star Sharron Davies last night joined free speech and women's rights campaigners calling for Sport England's diversity chief, Aedan Wolton, to be fired or resign.

Great but not so good if they just sign up with similar

Not sure if that’s the case

May2024 · 07/05/2024 09:10

For those of you who don't know who AW may be.

https://wingsoverscotland.com/when-they-come-for-your-children/

That video is horrifying and this is a person Sports England has working for them???

heathspeedwell · 07/05/2024 09:24

@May2024 thanks for that wingsoverscotland link - it's very chilling that an extremist like AW has been given so much power to harm vulnerable children.

RhymesWithOrange · 07/05/2024 11:52

@May2024 thanks for that link. I wonder where Leo is now?
