And John Swinney ballsed up Education (man balls, not laydee balls) in spite of having a brother high up in SQA....or because of...

Bloody well said!! Politicians and institutions need to take note that they under-estimate women at their peril.

And it absolutely has been a war which we are now finally starting to win.

And we remain undaunted.

Indomitable.

Steadfast.

And we won't wheesht!

And they can’t make us, especially after JK defanged the hate crime laws 🤣

I wasn’t sure about this post but then I thought, what the hell, I’m going to have my say.

The Scottish Government were told that Scottish women wouldn’t wheesht, they didn’t listen, and the SNP and Greens have both paid the price. Labour backed them to the hilt, voting for both the GRR and the Hate Crime laws and we won’t forget that.

I have been the tiniest of cogs in what is growing to be a very large wheel, but even the tiny part I’ve played has saved my sanity, and I’m a near seventy year old granny who has never been involved in any kind of activism before the gender stuff. It’s been a great joy to stand shoulder to shoulder with young, vibrant and very angry women, and they give me such hope.
I am in awe of women like JKR, Joanna Cherry, Lucy Blackburn, Johan Lamont, Ash Reagan, Helen Joyce and all the other magnificent women warriors who have been on the frontlines of this fight, and it is a fight.

I have said this elsewhere but I will say it again, Celtic women are a fierce mix that includes Pict, Briton and Viking, our ancestors were warrior women, defenders of the home and of our children. We are defiant and we won’t sit down, we won’t shut up and we will never, ever give up.

The stupid politicians should remember that women like K J Keen, Maya Forstater, Keira Bell, Julie Bindel and all the other wonderful frontline warrior women fighting for the safety of women and children in England, are the daughters of a country that gave the world Boudicca, and the pushers of this ideology aren’t the Romans, however much they would like to be.

I know that some of you don’t like such an adversarial approach but it really has felt that we are fighting a war in Scotland and it’s a war that we have to win, for the sake of our children and our grandchildren.

Hear hear

The Scottish Government should really learn that WOMEN WON'T WHEESHT!

Love this

Hoosemover · 29/04/2024 19:03

Did anyone see Alex Salmond on Talk TV? He claimed that HY phoned Ash Reagan at 7am saying he willing to talked about doing a deal with ALBA.
Then he read papers/tv saying that he was resigning.

Salmond believes he was pushed to resign.

SNP seem to pulling away from its core support.

whistablenative · 29/04/2024 19:10

THat's interesting @Hoosemover
I wonder if it's true though as a certain politician lies like he breathes does he not? (meaning the former though I guess it could apply to either of them!)

mrshoho · 29/04/2024 19:15

lechiffre55 · 29/04/2024 11:16

yes
None of the greens have an actual seat, they are all elected under the additional member system.
The greens get a certain number of seats under this system. The greens then choose internally who sits as those additional members. Given the additional members are chosen by the party it's not possible to vote them out for ordinary voters. e.g. Harvie and Slater cannot be voted out for as long as the greens get two additional member seats. The only way to get rid of them is for the ordinary voters to not vote for the greens to the point where they don't get the additional seats under the PR system.

Let's hope the shit they have helped to create will make people think twice about voting for this party again. It's a crying shame that the Green party have prioritised gender wooo wooo over climate and environmental issues.

Ash Reagan seems a solid politician with principles. in addition she is gender critical

From a fellow Celt (hoping to replicate Scottish women’s success by teaching our Irish politicians a lesson in valuing women): Maith síbh! Alba go brách!

Go raibh maith agat. If Helen Joyce is anyone to go by then I’m sure that you will 🙂 Erin go Bragh!

Before anyone gets too giddy, I should maybe quote a politician who is not popular with everyone but who did often have a memorable turn of phrase; "Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

BlackForestCake · 29/04/2024 20:19

While Swinney might be experienced, capable etc, the poor fellow has no charisma at all. They will lose if he leads them into the next election.

I agree, and we need to remember that TRAs have infiltrated many organisations. They are zombies, waiting for a Labour apocalypse.

ArtfullyCrumpled · 29/04/2024 21:39

That's the second First Minister to be felled by ignoring the rights of women and girls.

On the one hand, I agree with you. On the other, the absolute hold the SNP had over Scottish politics has been broken. I know several generations of families, who had voted SNP without thinking about it, who now don't. In some circles, even mild questioning of the SNP was liable to lead to furious scenes over the dinner table.

I still think they're going to fight like a furious, cornered rat. But the unquestioning hold is gone.

the hold they had, they blew up all by themselves. If they really were serious about independence the best thing they could/should have done was to do the day job well-show that they can run the place properly. Instead they pursued batshit mental stuff no one wanted or asked for instead. Dumber than a box of frogs. If you go on the "Wings over Scotland" website then half the BTL comments are convinced Sturgeon was an MI5 plant to preserve the union. You have to wonder.....

2Rebecca · 29/04/2024 23:08

My inlaws were pro-SNP and even leafleted for them but deserted them over the gender woo madness. Salmond did a good job of promoting Scotland as a pro-business economy although he got overly cosy with Trump and Souter. With Sturgeon it was all benefits, people being promised something for nothing, high taxes to penalise those prepared to work and pushing sex changes as a desirable and sensible thing.

chattyness · 30/04/2024 08:58

I was pro SN P until the gender nonsense .Alex Salmond should never have stepped down He knows that job inside out and could run rings round them all. Unlike the rest he knows all the facts and figures when questioned on anything, unlike any other leader in the UK . The snp seem to be terrified of him for some reason

It’s because he’s such an astute politician and also he might know where a lot of the bodies are buried and be biding his time. The thing with Salmond is that he is committed to independence and I don’t think that he would do anything that he thought might damage that, even if it benefited him. They would.

chattyness · 30/04/2024 15:46

@Dineasair I agree & I wish he'd never stepped down as SNP leader. I think the main stream media were hugely biased against him and he never got as much air time with any of them as all the rest did. The Beeb were especially bad.
